Motivation for last section

So I have been a total slacker. I found out in May that I passed my third section and have done next to nothing to study for my final section. I keep pushing it back. Now that we are nearing the end of the testing period, I have to get my butt in gear! I have scheduled my exam for Aug 25th. That gives me 20 days to bump up my score from a 72. I have a great plan set out but now I need motivation. You would think that with my last section, I would be super motivated but I am having trouble with it. Maybe it is a type of senoritis? I haven’t been coming on the site much even because I didn’t want to deal with admitting I haven’t studied. Out of site, out of mind I guess. So my fellow A71 posters, please help me get motivated. Kicks in the butts and heartfelt comments are both very welcomed!

    AKB!!!!!!!!!

Start thinking on the possibility of being done in less than 30 days. Is in that motivating??…………… I can tell you that life after passing scores is GREAT!!!!!!!

If you don't study now, you will have to see those books again…eewwwww LOL

    Done 😉

I am in the same boat and trying to pass FAR for my last section also!! I was scheduled for 08/27 but pushed it to 10/01. I decided to enjoy summer instead. Maybe not the best approach since I am dreading studying again but I have loved the break! Put together a study plan if you are going to try and do it by the end of August starting today and stick to it. How do you want to feel on score release day? Do you want that elated I am finally done feeling or the dread of admitting you should have studied harder. You have passed three times so you know what it takes. You know that I passed feeling. Dig deep and remind yourself of why you started and what you want to do after. You could be done in as little as 20 days!!!! What a feeling and sense of accomplishment that will be!

    B: 81 (3X) May 2012
    A: 76 (1X) Nov 2011
    R: 86 (2X) Feb 2012
    F: 64, April 2011, retake 10.01.12 - 75!!!!!!!!!!

Someone made the comment to me once that, “if this were my last part, I'd be going after it with a vengeance.” And that became my attitude. I thought of FAR as the only thing that was standing in my way. It was the only thing that was keeping me from attaining what has been plauging me for years of my life. FAR was on a platter and was just waiting for me to come after it and slaughter it to death. I wasn't going to be satisfied if I walked out of that testing center thinking that I *could have* passed. I wanted to know I passed and I wanted to know that I would feel good about it. And I did. And it's the best feeling in the world.

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

I'm taking REG next Monday, my last section. My motivation, more time to rest, more time to be with my loved ones, and maybe, just maybe a better job.

I was in your exact same position a little over a year ago. Couldn't get my motivation on, postponed REG twice. I got so alarmed that I threw out my half-baked notes and started completely over with a vengeance. I set a firm test date, then took a slightly riskier approach for my shortened study timeframe, focusing on the content specification percentages and, using Yaeger homestudy, listening to Phil and doing just the MCQs he listed, supplementing with Wiley only for the highest tested content. I also blew up the common tax returns and hung them all around my study area so I was staring at them all the time. I made sure I could do SIMS in what I guessed might be “typical” areas such as multiply endorsed checks, contracted goods purchases with faxes, phones and trucks blowing up, alternative minimum tax, partnership distributions, etc.

Can't tell you any exam specifics but, although my score wasn't as high as I'd like and I wasn't adequately prepared for all the Qs and SIMs, I passed.

Thanks guys! I really need this. I have my study plan set out and have no room for error at this point. I am going to take a practice test to see where I am and what I need to focus on. I worked on my weaker areas this weekend based on my last test (mainly bonds, derivatives and hedging). Here I go, head first. Living eating and breathing this thing for 20 days. That isn't long. I would rather live for this test for 20 days than half way study and have to start over again in October!!

For me, the motivation was abject terror at having to relearn FAR. Plus, I passed the first 3 within a couple months, so if one expired, the others would also.

Ask one of the long-timers on this board–if you can at all avoid it, do not let scores expire.

    FAR 92 1/3/12
    AUD 93 2/2/12
    BEC 89 2/28/12
    REG 86 7/16/12

    Waiting on REG

Thanks everyone for the kicks in the but and the encouraging words! I took a practice test and didn't do that bad. Now I am going through every single question I did, right or wrong, and taking notes on them. I feel motivated even more so now that I saw Peanut passed! That is so awesome. I had a bit of jealousy, not because she doesn't deserve it, because we all know how much she does, but because I want to be done too. I think this is the first time I realized how bad I want to be done. The fear of not passing this time has been washed away, now I just have the hunger to kick this this once and for all!!

akb9874 – I am right there with you!! I have FAR scheduled for 08/31 and I feel like I am not grasping the information well enough as well as a little slacking here and there. I have a little under 4 weeks, so I need to shift in high-gear and get to working. I am struggling with F5 & F6 in Becker. Its like I am forgetting the little details. Good Luck to you!!

    BEC-Passed
    AUD-Passed
    REG-Passed
    FAR-Passed (I AM DONE!!! THANK U LORD!!!!)
