    Help! I’m looking for suggestions on new study techniques for my FAR rematch in January. Every time I have to retake a section, I do everything from the prior attempt AND a few new tricks to up my game.

    When I sat for FAR the first time, I went through the entire Wiley text, pounded the test bank, used daily Ninja Notes+Audio+flashcards, recopied my notes, and watched Yeager vids on only my weakest topics. I also sat through a live review course offered by my grad school for FAR and I have great notes and handouts of which I covered as well. I also take notes on incorrect MCQ responses and keep a fact nugget journal.

    Then I got 72 and instantly thought “A-ha! I failed because I didn’t watch ALL the vids! If I do everything from before and watch all the vids, I will pass!” and away I went watching all my Yeager vids with detailed notes AND everything above mentioned all over again.

    That got me a 74 and I’m out of new ideas. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, so I need to add something new to my study schedule…but what?

    Suggestions appreciated!!! 🙂

    Baxtercpa, you can do this. I am thinking about you and looking for your passing score.

    Practice all the Journal Entries covered in your study materials (yes, even Governmental & NFP) and know them well going into your exam. JEs help me solved questions on my exam. Good luck Mints!

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

    Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!

    @TDKR, I second that.

    FAR and REG best learned with the hands-on approach. For FAR, knowing JE's and for REG, knowing calculations are the key to passing.

    Mints, do you have a notebook with JE's including those for non-profit transactions? I'm almost sure you do, but checking just in case.

    Rooting for your success………….

    @candothis WORD. Love this!!!!! Everyone on this board should be required to read your post once per week.

    @Seattle I was keeping a running JE notebook but I found myself posting all the background info for the AJE as well as just the entry and it got to be overwhelming to review. That is definitely something that I can improve upon this month! Going forward, I've picked up another stack of spirals and will keep the journal entries by topic with no more than a one sentence description. I'm also going to beat the Government wide and fund statements to death!

    Thanks again for the advice and support everyone! I hope that you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving and now it's time to get to work!!!!!!! 🙂

    @ Eliabraham I stepped out but wish I had not. My mother in law had a heart attack, then a stroke the next day. My son came home from college and had to have oral surgery. Well my mother in law is doing better (thank God), my son is recuperating from oral surgery and gone back to school (thank God). Now I guess I can focus. Yeap life is tough indeed…….
