As I’m studying Becker, I notice a lot of times they put in A LOT of filler then ask a simple/straight-forward question that only uses one or maybe two facts from the fact pattern.

I’ve been thinking about skipping to the end to the read the question first when I take my actual exam to save time but I already have a tendency to overlook things and feel this could make that habit worse.

Anyone else do this?

I always read the stem of the question first. If it asks for pension expense, for example, sometimes I go ahead and write out the formula. Then I read the question in it's entirety and fill in the info I need.

They often give you a ton of filler info just to throw you off your game. I think you are on the right track!

I'm a firm believer in the stem method.

I'll read the stem, then read the entire question. That way, I can pick up on the things I need.

I don't automatically do this, but if it is lengthy and I feel the need to start backtracking once or twice, then I skip to the end – I start hunting for what I need in the “filler.”

F: 71,74,74 again, and 86 - DONE!

I do the same if it's a lenghty question. I feel like if I read the stem first, then go back to read the entire question, I retain the question better, if that makes sense. If it's a long question and I don't read the stem first, I always end up having to go back and re-read the question.

I would say about 80% of the time i read the question first. This way i can look for all the info i need in the fact pattern. I feel this also helps me from having to reread the question 2-3 times.

A - 61, 91!!
B - 78!
F - 76!!!
R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

I always read the question first and then go back to the actual problem, especially if it involves consolidations.
