hey guys…i figured i would start a new thread for this because i haven’t seen this topic mentioned anywhere else. i would REALLY like to get some clarification on this because i am a little freaked out!! i was watching Module 13 with Yaeger and cindy and phil are both teaching it and they were discussing the “mark for review” option on the exam.

they actually suggested NOT using that feature on the exam and just writing the ones you want to go back to on the scrap piece of paper. they think the AICPA can track which questions you marked and went back to.

since it is computer based and the AICPA is known to be tricky…it actually does make sense. however, how could that negatively affect our scores??!! is that just supplemental information we are providing them or does that somehow factor into our score?

jeff do you have any insight on this?!

I made a topic about this a couple months back after watching that lecture. Apparently there is no proof of it, but I guess you can consider that it is possible. My first 2 exams I would use the feature to mark the questions, but once I saw this I didn't do it on my FAR test. Better safe than sorry imo.

yeah i agree. i used that feature for all of the other exams. it is so much easier, too than writing them down on a piece of paper. just something more to worry about. now i am paranoid that if i fail BEC again it will be because i marked questions!! haha. this BS never ends.

definitely not having a good night…this module is throwing me for a loop.

i never “mark my questions” instead write it down on my scratch paper those problems in a corner.

Although, I also think the AICPA checks our scratch paper to see if we struggled or not. I dunno, thats what I think. I'm wierd. And I dont like Fri 13th. lol.

I think you're being paranoid. Yes, they can easily track that. That is not hard. Do they care? Why should they? It is just another tool to use. Do they look at all your inputs or answer changes? Do they look at what you put in the calculator or spreadsheet?

Just take your test and don't add another thing to stress about (unnecessary as this is too…).

The prometric lady shredded my scratch paper after I took FAR the other day. Don't think they send them anywhere.

I have marked mine on all exams. I really dont think they check which ones are marked or not. If thats the case, then I think they would have better results by watching you with the camera's in that room and see how you are acting (or crying). In FAR I put my head down a few times and leaned back like I gave up for a sec, gathered myself back up and did my best. IF they watched (which Im not saying they do, just an example) then they would be like, “yep he didnt study enough, we are going to fail him”. Marking questions is just a tool for the test taker and it doesnt really prove anything or more than if they watched you take it. I guess what Im trying to get at is that if they wanted to affect your score other than what you chose, the amount of time you spent on that question, going back to already answered questions, your calculations on the calculator or spreadsheet, all those would be better than marked questions. They also shred your scratch paper if you didnt see. And IF they did see what I wrote, lol, I probably wouldnt have passed with the slang and pictures that helped me remember things.

Isnt that also the review course that tells you to start with D up to A bc A is the most likely wrong answer? I tried that and reminding myself to start with D bc A is this most likely wrong answer messed me up since it was on my mind and swayed my choices. Either you know it or you dont, and if you dont you can usually take it down to 2 choices whether it be A and C or B and D, but going into the question thinking A is a trick answer unless you are for sure positive its right is something that messes me up. but YMMV.

I think Potatogun has it right. Some of us make this exam more difficult by worry about unnecessary stuff. If you don't mark for review are they going to track if you skip the question or select an answer and change it later. Marking questions for review is a wonderful tool and should just utilized it and make your life easy. I've used it on my previous exams and see no problem.

People I refuse to woirry about this! Next we will worry about how long we spend on a question. The exam is submitted to the elf of the black box and then the results are sent to us. No telling what games those elves play! Someone is messing with our heads ;D
