Maine state CPA experience

It clearly states that all candidates must demonstrate the completion of at least two years of public accounting work experience;400 hours of work experience in audit, review and compilation as well as at least 200 hours of work experience in advisory services.

It does not mention when those 2 years of experience must be taken. Can it be before/during the exam? Or it must be after the exams have been passed?

    Any ideas?

I cant imagine that you would be forced to obtain the experience after you pass the exam. Before, during, or after should be sufficient. I could see states require recent (within 10 years?) experience though. I dont know anything about Maine in particular, but am pretty confident you can obtain your experience before you pass the exam.
