Made it through F3…feeling slightly better about FAR

So I just finished the lecture and 85% of the HW for F3…I had a MUCH better experience with this chapter. I think in part because this was one of the only classes in college that my teacher actually took the time to teach. I worked really hard in that class because the harder I worked the more she would help and it clearly paid off. I am not a wiz at this chapter by any means but I at least can say I didn’t feel defeated and I felt like I could learn it better and master it. Such a change from F2. I still haven’t gone back to finish F2 because it was such a blow to my abilities and I think I need to just wait that one out until my live classes start next month and give it another shot then.

    Until then…Monday I solider onto F4.

Glad I stuck with it and kept on track so I can get 5 chapters done before my live classes, at least I’ll be half way through and will have the chance to review these 5 again a second time with an instructor!

Hope everyone else is studying hard and sticking with it!

    We can do this!

    Great job!

We all have our days where we feel like the material is just kicking our butt. It is important to just move forward as with further review, the concepts will come together.

    TRUST THE PROCESS!

Well said. It's completely true – you need to be married to the material.

For both AUD and BEC the first few times I went through each chapter I was struggling to keep everything straight and to digest the concepts.

Both times there was a magical moment where the clouds parted and everything made sense. I'm following the same mindset for FAR – Just keep grinding and evenutally it all comes together.

Glad to hear F3 is better for you – because F2 is destroying me.

I also think one of the toughest parts of the CPA process is to learn how to learn.

I'm at the point now where I don't really worry about what is it that I am studying – I have figured out the process that works from me to learn how to learn, and they can put anything on the pages they want to. Eventually I will have it down.

    I agree @acg5000

That first pass through the material. I know I'm gonna score anywhere from 68% to 85% which I'm okay with. It is part of learning the material. I know when I go to rework the material during final review, I'll be scoring in the 80% 90% range because of the earlier work I did.

No one will probably master each section, the trick is to work them, learn from your mistakes, review material, and come back with a better understanding.

I agree! @peetree awesome job getting that 95 in FAR!

Do you have any other tips to nail FAR the first time around??

Hang on there! I found out that a lot of stuff made sense (got tied-in) after completing final F-10 chapter. Keep that in mind and plough along 😉

@peetree How did you use the ninja notes during your studies for FAR?

I am using the ninja notes by re-writing them and going over the points in the lecture with them. Some topics include formulas, so I use the notes to remember a few formulas too instead of redoing the lecture. I also use the notes to go along with mcq's. I stopped writing notes at one point because I did not have the concepts down so I went back did the lecture and then started writing notes again…….I know you asked peetree specifically, but I thought I'd chime in. :-))
