    Guys,

I was wondering, do any of you have low moments why studying for this test. When I say low moments I mean times where the motivation is just not very high. During FAR, I had about a month stretch where I just really didn’t feel like studying but I plugged away anyway and eventually motivation returned. I am experiencing the same thing right now. I want to know if this is a normal occurence?

I think we all had low levels of motivation through this process. Just keep you head up and on the prize!

    Haze,

I'm there with you. I think my lack of motivation to study is being spurred by the fact that I know I will be getting Audit results really soon. And if I pass that then Regulation will be my last exam. I felt this way last time results were about to be released…..

    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96

Low motivation for a month…. man I hardly study for a month. I have time after each test however that I just need a break. I normally take a good 1.5 – 2 week break between studying. I think this helps a lot, but when scores are coming out I find it very hard to stay focused, during the week where scores might come out I try to do some MCQ's and review my notes up to that point (while being on this site all the time). Its a good mid-term review I think and makes the time go by a little better.

    BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

Trevor, I took a 3 day break and went right to BEC. I don't think the material is hard but its just an endurance test. Michelle, I also feel like my motivation is a little lower because I don't have my FAR score yet. The CPA is like working out, its really hard and your motivation dwindles until someone notices that your abs are looking more defined. That's when you're motivation increases dramatically. Come on AICPA, tell me my abs are looking nice!!

When I first started I was like Trevor, I would take a test…take two days off and start studying for the next one. Worrying about the score of a test you already took while studying for the next sucks, but use your time wisely and before you know it you will have three down and be waiting on the 4th. I would hold myself to doing a certain number of multiple choice questions a day while I waited. It works good when you still have more tests to take. However, I tried to do this because I am not feeling so good about FAR (my last one), and that lasted for about a day. I realized that if I failed then I would have to order a different review course because I have some of the answers rehearsed due to the fact I did the MCQs twice. The SIMS are where I struggled and you can't really practice for those….

Hi Haze… Yes, I do have these low moments, especially that I never …had the chance to sit for any of these exams, like you…. But when I have these days, I usually take a day off, or half a day and try not to think at all about the study, or the exam. I see a movie or something…. … Just try to study… and not to think about something else :))) you are not alone!!!

lol @HazeEastwood – I like your analogy! You wanna talk about low moments?! Like 4 or 5 nights before my FAR exam, I was so stressed and overwhelmed that I was just crying all night!! lol I have been at this for the last year and a half so I have had plenty low moments, just a lack of motivation a lot of times. It takes a while for the motivation to build back up for me.

Waiting for results is the worst because I really cannot get anything done. At least FAR is my last one so I don't feel the need to be doing anything else (and there was no way in hell I was gonna review my FAR notes while I wait for my score).

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!
