I just started studying for FAR, only in the second topic 9using Becker) and when I hit these multiple choice questions I feel like I am doing so terrible and get really down/hard on myself. Did anyone else feel this way? I read the chapters and take notes for myself but some of these questions just throw me off so badly. Looking for words of encouragement from people who have gone through this/felt the same way! Give me some hope! I feel really dumb right now.

@emichelle2321, I know how you feel, F2 is the worst of the worst. I suggest you to learn as much as you can for now and move on. Once you go over all the material, go back to review F2, and I can assure you that it will start making sense.

The homework isn't the actual test. The homework is all part of the learning process.

    BEC - 85
    AUD - 81
    REG - 84
    FAR - 7/24/16

I beat myself up over questions I get wrong but it's much better to get them wrong now than it is to get them wrong during the exam. Make sure you read why you got the question wrong. It will feel all the more satisfying when you see a question on the exam you got wrong when studying but knew the answer from reading why you got it wrong in the first place.

I scored in the 50s for F2, so I've been there.

The key is to take notes on the MCQ explanation and learn why each answer is right for whatever reason. Don't get flustered at a simple wrong answer. The important part is that you're learning – not getting the “right answer”.

For what it's worth I got demolished the first go around in Becker for FAR, not scoring above a 65% in any sections of the homework but passed the section with a 93.

That was me when I first started studying for BEC. It was the first test, and I was doing cost accounting questions (should be easy since I am good with that) and man….I never been so frustrated. I was pissed off seeing how many I couldn't get right. I was in such a frustrated mood for awhile. I regretted going into accounting and wasting my time and then money for the CPA. But it got better after that. You learn from mistakes, and then remember — the questions on the actual exam are not as long/complicated as the ones you see in Becker.
I remember like one week before I was to take Audit in September I totally lost it. I wasn't retaining anything since I was studying for both Audit and BEC. I felt like quitting and lost all desire to study/learn/pass. I went into my Audit exam not giving a rat's ass thinking I was going to fail since I didn't know a lot of stuff in it. And then 5 days later I had BEC and by the time I reached it I was so tired. By the time the third testlet came, I couldn't think. But guess what? I passed both. Don't ask me how but I did it. Once you pass one, it's a great feeling. I haven't been that happy since I started studying.
It happens to all of us. Best thing you could do is take a day to relax and not think about it. We all have those days where you absolutely hate what you do, and everything is overwhelming, but that is what it takes to be a CPA. It isn't easy, but it is worth it. If you study enough and know the material, it will not be hard. Just do not burn yourself out either. As you do them over again they will seem easier, I guarantee that.
