LFFL Survivor as of 8/22/14. Rocky123 explained exactly why I left it for last. Had way too much time, effort and sacrifice invested to not put in the time for the last test. Was difficult to get started for some reason, but once it got rolling there was no way I was going to put in anything less than my best effort. Passed with 89. You all can do it!

I took FAR in the last window and got a 63. I have a retake at the end of November. I had heard that FAR was the most difficult section and saved it for last just because of that. If I took it first and ran over on my 18 months, I didn't want the most difficult section to be the one that I have to take (and pass!) again.

Bringing it back… I am part of this club

I am a mixture of proud and embarrassed! I do believe the motivation that I have only 1 left is a good thing and keeps me going.

I am part of this club too…struggling to keep motivation, but I have 3 shots to pass before my REG expires.

Guilty. Not really embarrassed. More embarrassed that I failed it my first go around in July (72) because I didn't realize how important government and not for profit are. Need to pass it on round 2 in October to avoid REG expiring! (I might have one more shot at the beginning of January bc REG expires 2/4/17 but I do not want to cut it that close!!)

I agree that the the motivation comes from it being the last one and not wanting to let the effort of the last 3 passes go down the drain!

I really am glad to hear others are saving it for last too, when I tell people “in the business” they look at me like I made the BIGGEST mistake of my life and I'll lose credit for the others due to my failure of FAR. :/

I studied FAR for like 2 weeks before giving up and doing BEC (due to time constraints BEC seemed more reasonable) and I really am scared to go back into it… I don't know if I'll ever pass it (Sometimes too much information really overwhelms me and I psych myself out) 🙁

I am part of this club, I thought the confidence of passing the other exams would help me pass FAR. I scored a 74 in June and an 80 on the retake in July. Difference for me was writing out journal entries and actually knowing what I was doing instead of memorizing it. Stay motivated and you will be done before you know it. Good luck!

@H.Bonaventure Congrats on passing on round 2! I am really hoping to do the same come October. I failed with a 72 in July and in trying to make sure I don't trip up again, I have heard the “write journal entries out” a lot. How did you write out the Journal Entries on your retake and how did you know the journal entries were correct? I have been going through the material again and have been writing the Journal Entries I encounter in the lectures and study text. My concern is that when I start doing MCQs early next week, there is no Journal Entry “key” to refer to and know that the JEs I'm writing out for that specific fact pattern are in fact are correct. Any insight? Thanks!

@GeauxAwayCPA Thanks! You will be passing soon enough just sacrifice a little longer, you already have 75% done. On the second try I bought a used Becker book and wrote down the journal entries and examples for the key topics they had in the book. While I could memorize the answers to the calculations, I was more concerned with knowing what accounts to debit and credit in each situation. I am sorry this isn't really helpful but I don't know how else to explain it. Knowing journal entries helped so much on the simulations even if I didn't know the calculations. I pretty much did this in combination with constant NINJA MCQ.

I was a member of this club. Only reason for this because FAR was my weakness spot from school. I left it to last and tried really hard.. I ended up passing with 79 which surprised myself. So you just need to try harder and you will pass it .

FAR-79 (what a surprise and I am finally done !)

@H.Bonaventure Gotcha! I am planning on incorporating Ninja MCQ this time and I may also have to borrow a friends Becker book 🙂 Thanks for the feedback! I hope to join you soon in the post-CPA exam life soon!!
