I’ll be honest. I do not feel ready. I just cannot get the concept of bonds to save my life no matter how hard I try…it’s just not clicking. F2 – can’t get that one either.

I just don’t know I don’t feel confident, I don’t feel like I have a shot in hell of passing bc I am still struggling with SIMS too.

I am scheduled for Monday, I am going to take the exam because I paid for it and at this point I feel like there isn’t much else I can do…I study, do MCQ and progress tests so I am just going to close my eyes and hope for the best.

I know I can’t be the only one who has felt this way…how did you guys overcome this?

lauriemarie5- There is so much material in FAR that they can't possibly ask you about everything. I struggled with bonds and F2 as well. Do as many practice tests as you can so that you see the topics mixed together and write down the questions that you get wrong. That way, you build your confidence with the MCQs and can review the topics that just don't stick.

I know this sounds impossible, but try to relax. Take a few deep breaths and have confidence in your studying. You can do this!

I'm in the exact same boat. As a matter of fact, my exam schedule for all four parts is the exact same as yours. Although I am aware that there is a high probability that I won't pass, I'm still pushing through and doing as many MCs as I can until test day. You never know how it'll all play out. The worst that can happen is that we fail and have to take it over again. On the bright side, at least we got to experience the exam for our first time and know how to prepare better for next time. By accepting this fact, I feel more at peace and am not all panicky and stressed out. Good luck and keep on keeping on!

@lauriemarie5 I don't know if anyone ever feels 100% ready for FAR! I know that I don't and if I had another month to study it wouldn't help…I'd just start to suck at the topics from a month ago! 😉 The biggest challenge with FAR, IMHO, is keeping all that info reasonably fresh and exam tight over the course of your study plan. Keep cycling through all of the topics over and over again! It's not too late and don't give up on yourself!!!!

Don't freak out if you are still having a hard time with bonds. You don't have to be a bonds expert, just do your best to limp through it. It's one topic among many, many, many FAR topics. I'd hate for you to spend the next few days pounding bonds and making yourself nuts when there are so many other topics that need your attention.

Try this to keep your bond fears in check: memorize a bond SIM from your review materials that involves an effective interest schedule and journal entries. Read the solution and follow where every number in the table comes from and goes to in the journal entries. Study that SIM until you can see it in your sleep. When you run into bonds on exam day, think back to that problem and apply the same logic to the question on your screen. It may sound silly but it will work if you have one topic that you just don't get.

    Good luck next week!!!!!!! 🙂

Thanks everyone! So nice to hear your feedback – sometimes just venting on here helps more than anything. I have been doing progress tests for the past two days…first F1-3, today F1-5…I am hoping to wrap up 6 tonight so I can wake up and do F1-6 tomorrow. I have a separate notebook of the questions I get wrong so I can review, review, review!

fightingforsanity I agree..if I fail I have come to terms that at least I tried and I can always try again. You'll have to let me know how you do!

laserglare I am not working currently, I start in October, however, I am planning a wedding and we just purchased our first home so those two things are basically the same as having a full-time job…but I tend to spend my days in the books even though I feel extremely burnt out.

In the schedule in your signature you budget a month for REG but 2 months for BEC? Why? shouldn't it be the other way around..?

Good luck next week! I'm tackling my own beast on Tuesday.

FAR has the most information. Try to memorize the bond JEs, and amortize discount/premium toward the FACE value of the bond.

    Premium

    Face value

    +

    Discount

F-2 contains a variety of topics, I think that's the challenge. You do need to know the matching principle pretty well though.

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!

newuseracc – Becker classes for BEC are in December and December is a blackout month so I can't test even if I wanted to so my next option is January.

I am trying to go according to Becker Lives classes while I am not working since I have the time to study so aggressively (even though no matter how long I study for FAR I don't think I am ever going to feel ready) There is a phenomenal instructor for REG in my area and his classes prove a very high success rate because he will literally keep you there like 6pm-12am until he can get you to really grasp the material. In college I always liked tax and law so I feel a little more confident walking into that exam.
