Less than 2 weeks to FAR and averaging mid 60s on progress tests

    Hi all,

I am scheduled to take my first FAR exam on August 31st. Originally, I knew I would be short on time (only 6 weeks total and I work full time), but figured it’s the end of the quarter, what the hell. I can always retake it in October. I’m only averaging in the 60s on my progress tests, and that’s being somewhat familiar with the Becker questions. Ideally, I would like to read the book again, do a couple more rounds of MCs and SIMS, but time does not allow for that.

Question is, should I just give it a go, knowing the odds are against me? I don’t care too much about the $250, it’s more the blow of confidence after hours of studying. I do feel that a fail gives you a feel for the test and a better idea of what you need for the next time to pass too. What would everyone do in my situation? Has anyone averaged in the 60s and passed?

    BEC - 80
    AUD - 85
    FAR - 76
    REG - 75

I'm in the same boat. I'm taking FAR on Saturday and I'm only halfway through the material for the second time. I have forgotten almost everything from the beginning. My scores are HORRIBLE! I'm just concentrating on nailing some main ideas, and retaining as many small details as possible.

But yes, I think you should give it a try if you don't care about the fee. I don't feel like I'm ready, but I have to pass FAR by 11/30, and I figure this exam with be a good practice test to see where I'm at.

    BEC- 73, 73, 80
    REG- 74, 83
FAR- 50(didn't study), 76 (<--How the heck did that happen?)
    AUD- 71, 71, 79!!!!!
    Finished!!

Good luck to you! I lose my first part in June 2013, so I also am getting pressed for time (have REG and FAR to go) and think it may be a few retakes there.

I would take it, but maximize your study time till the exam day. Also, I would recommend getting FAR Ninja Audio. I listened to the audio related to NFP/Gov't accounting multiple times and it was a lifesaver on the exam day. NFP & Gov't are heavily tested and knowing the basis is essential (especially for the MCQs.) I would also know the basic J/Es for those topics, if nothing else.

Use research tab (Auth. Lit) for the SIMs

@ CPA628, thank you! I'm planning on getting in at least 50 hours from now until exam day. I'm going to give it my best shot, if it doesn't work out, I hope to kill it in October!

I'm picking and choosing my subjects to spend more time on, and Govt and NFP is one of them!
