From all of your experiences, have you found that FAR has a pretty fair balance of lengthy MCQ and theory-based ones? I know there’s no way to be sure, but if I get hit with a ton of intense calculation heavy questions where I have to screw around with cost of goods sold and profit margins (i.e. intercompany merchandise transactions), there’s going to be a major problem.

Conversely, I’ve noticed that, at least for the purposes of my review, the 3-5 minutes I might have to spend on some questions is offset by the fact that there are some theoretical questions I can just motor through in about 20 seconds because I’m usually pretty solid on theory.

So should I expect it to be fairly distributed…or shall I start suiting up for a brutal onslaught of time-draining misery?

Time management is crucial for FAR because there are so many calculations. If you do well on the first testlet, the 2nd and 3rd are likely to be tougher in part because of the worrier questions. Two things that might help. First, use the Wiley test bank. It gives you an average time per question. This helped me increase my speed. I don't know if Gleim has this feature or not. Secondly, read the question being asked first and then read the entire problem. This will help keep you from wasting time on irrelevant info.

    Good luck.

Thank you for your tips! I'm glad I am on the right track–those things you pointed out are exactly what I've been doing. Thankfully Becker gives you average time per question as well–usually my average time at the end of any given homework session is a little over 1 minute per question (I think my theoretical question speed probably pulls the average down).

Glad to see I'm doing things the way you suggest them–now hopefully I can just replicate your scores!

There was a decent mix of questions on my exam. I have to say that they were nothing like the Becker Supplemental Questions that took 15 minutes to do though. I think those are more designed to make you practice the steps…

    Good luck!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011

    I am finally DONE!
