I took FAR on 4/5/11. Felt pretty good about the MCs, I thought that all 3 testlets were medium to medium/hard. I probably will end up not passing because I got steamrolled on the TBS. Overall I feel that I got 3 maybe 4 out 7 TBS’s right. Not too good. Probably will end up up in the infamous 70-74 range.

@CPAMAN and Celeste…Were the Sims on things you would expect, meaning were they big item topics. Were the Sims just worded weird or were they testing items you wouldnt think were on them?

My friend only spent 2.5 hours on finish FAR and she passed last year. I took 3 hours for the whole exam in April 1st(1 break between the 2nd testlet and 3rd testlet) and I feel confident since it's just the problems as same level as what I practiced as usual from Wiley test bank. My another friend took 20 minutes for each testlet and 1 hour for simulation, but he is genius and I am convinced that he could pass.

I already registered Aud in May 27. I just started to review this part. I dont know if I have enough time because I will be super busy in the coming months till May 10. The review materials I used are Yaeger Review and Gleim MCs. If anyone, in this forum, would give me some advice how to prepare Aud efficiently and effectively, I would highly appreciate it. Since even I have read through the whole module and watched the video instructed by Gary, I still have no idea how to use “common sense” to do the Multiple choice or Test based simulation.

Drod57- The Sims were on topics I studied, only some of them were harder than I expected. There was even one in particular where they were playing so many dirty tricks throughout the question. I hope I spotted all the tricks. If I did, then I got that Sim all correct. If not, then I'm in trouble. The Research questions were very straightforward. Not sure why people thought they're harder now.

My advice is study EVERY module in the Wiley book. Do not just pick and choose what you think is more important. Study it all. It's painful to do that, but they make this exam where you absolutely have to know everything and know it well.

I am trying to read every problem very carefully and follow all steps as required by Gary-extensive reading for each module, so thats why I just finished 3 modules and even though I still have no enough time to make my flashcard for previous modules. I really enjoy taking FARE but I hate the procedure to prepare AUD. Anyway, I still think I will pass AUD in my first attempt! No kidding!:)

The time limit always scares me with FAR and all the calculations…not sure how people can walk out with more than an hour to spare……..

I am sooooo stuck in lala-land with the darn EPS and DEPS; I do not think I will ever grasp all of it lol. Why does everything have to be soooo complicated. All these word problems remind me of math in school: “A train travels due east and 5 people are on the train going 45 mph, 7people get on and 3 people get of including a baby, the train conducter's hair is brown……what is his wife's name?” That is how I feel reading these questions….a bunch of distractors and by the time you figure out what they want you are so overloaded with info that you have to re-read the thing again and after all of that think about how to get to the answer; and including calculatiions have an amazing 1.5 minutes per question. WOW!!!!

    REG - Passed
    FAR - Passed
    BEC - Passed
    AUD - 2-25-12 PASSED - DONE !!!!!!!! WOOHOO

Magster-Read the last line of the question first. Then you can ignore any distractors, and concentrate on answering the question.

    @magster

I am one of the ones who took FAR last testing window and finished the test with 1.5 hours to spare. I am usually a pretty fast test taker but I am by no means brilliant (and I am being truthful, not humble). What has always worked for me is to not over think the questions. I do not mark questions for review. I either know it or I don't and if I don't I take my best guess and move on. I pretty much took the same approach with simulations. I was incredibly lucky with FAR as I felt all my simulations were very straight forward and pretty much what I expected. Can't say the same for REG as those simulations were horrible but I still filled out what I knew, guessed at the rest and prayed for the best. Don't know if that is a strategy you would be comfortable with but it may help if you struggle with time management. Good luck!

    BEC 11/2009 87
    AUD 10/2010 75
    REG 11/2010 73, 2/2011 80
    FAR 02/2011 85
Licensed FL CPA as of 10/5/2011 Yay!!!
