    just took FAR

1st testlet did pretty well i think. knew most things.

2nd testlet was tough. got through part of it but then there were a few questions on stuff I wanted to kick myself for not remembering. simple memorization on where something goes that was so easy that only if Prometric let me go to my locker and open my book I would’ve known.

3rd testlet was brutal. There were some questions I was sure of but some I had never seen in the Becker passmaster.

    SIMs…4-5 tabs, 2 research questions

nailed both research questions. hope those are worth a lot but probably they aren’t.

as far as the SIMs with 4-5 tabs, probably a few things wrong here and there but got the idea of what the tab was looking for 4 out of 5 of the tabs, or 3 out of 4. but this 1 tab was on a topic covered in Becker (fair game) but they asked for journal entries and it was this tab that i bombed. hopefully that tab isn’t scored 😉 ?

    i predict i scored somewhere from 72-80

what % are you guessing will pass FAR this window? ~43%+/-2%?

@highmileage — also just sat for financial. similar experience – but i only had 1 research question… this exam def kicked my butt…

1st testlet wasn't so bad — i spent the ideal 50 mins… 2nd testlet was a nightmare. it was like the computer knew my not so great areas, and asked for the most confusing calcs… i spent at least an hour on it =( and the 3rd testlet wasn't so bad again (so i knew i must've blown it on testlet 2 for sure) and i ran through it so i had the ideal 1.5 hours left for the 7 sims. even the sims were not what i had expected it to be…

i have absolutely NO idea where i stand in all this…

@OnMyWayToBeCPA GOOD LUCK! We nail this thing!!!! 🙂

Did you by chance sit for it in the Northeast? I ask because (and another71 might like to know this) this morning I arrived at Prometric center and about 4-5 people were taking sections of the CPA exam (waiting in the lobby area). One of those folks mentioned this website, another71.com and how they'd been there, etc. So seems like lots know about this site!

1 reason I'm not sure if I did well or not is that I missed some stuff that was easy and clearly fair game from the Becker. If other people get that right I could be up the creek. And it's like you dont know how they weight things. Or maybe you do. a few missteps of easy things could get ugly. Most times I throw my heart in my studying with Becker material and stay up almost all night for a few nights, go into the exam exhausted and leaving feeling liek I got beat up to a pulp on the battlefield and end up doing OK. but i really never know.

In the end we just got to outlast and outperform 55-60% of all the SMART testtakers who took it this window 🙂 ?

Other issue is now you have 40% of the exam SIMs. In the past with it being 30% and the essay I could squeak by with an essay that was well-written even if pretty crappy content/not entirely correct. So With the old format there was probably more likely to be skipping lot of SIM tabs and still passing….. not sure that's still the case

Someone mentioned how SIM tabs are each worth like 6%? What is each research question worth?

I am a new member of this site and I had a random question for the group that has taken FAR in 2011 with the new 7 TBS….

I sat at the end of Feb. 2011 and felt good about the 90 MC questions. I believe mine went easy, medium, medium. If I struggled it was for sure during the second testlet. When I arrived at the 7 TBS I filled out 3 with answers (which I felt were done ok at best), got the 1 research correct and with 5 mins remaining threw a few answers from drop boxes in each of the remaining 3 tabs. Pretty much, I basically left the last 3 blank….which resulted in a 66.

My results said I did comparable or better for the MC, and less than for the TBS…

Retested at the end of May 2011 and pretty much feel the same as I did on the previous test, maybe a fraction less confident but overall pretty good; however, when I arrived at the TBS I was able to answer 3 tabs (1 research) 100% correct, make a solid guess on the 2nd research, answered another tab with what I believe to be 75-85% correct, and made some good answer selections on the remaining two ( feel like at least 50% correct)….

My pure comment sense is telling me to feel a lot better about my last effort but I was wondering if people that passed or have heard about people passing in the 1st quarter could give me some indication on how I should be feeling….it is my last test and I have taken the FAR beast 4 times!!! I JUST WANT TO BE DONE!!!! Thanks in advance for any comments…

FAR – May 20, 2011 – awaiting my final score hopefully!

    BEC – May 2010 – 79

    REG – December 2009 – 76

    AUD – August 2010 – 79
