Just Took FAR, Exam Seemed Too Simple?

    I just got out of my FAR exam and for some reason the questions seemed a lot more simple than the questions I had practiced in Becker or Wiley.

    All three testlets were easy/medium, and the SIMS were very reasonable, so I either lucked out with the exam or I did horrible and thought I knew the information lol.

    Has anybody else experienced this before?

    Seriously might be the only person to say that. I pray I get lucky tomorrow on FAR. I'm know I'm going to fail though. not prepared.

    My last AUD exam went like that. I was out of there in 2.5 hours and ended up with an 81. I'm not complaining. šŸ™‚

    The last time I took the exam, although I wasn't as prepared, the questions were a lot more lengthy and difficult. The SIMS were also very confusing! This time around, even the SIMS were manageable and very straight forward… something I have never experienced in any of the CPA exams.

    Good luck to you ledgermaven and AmyBwants2passtheCPA! Stay positive šŸ™‚ That's what I'm trying to do before the score release lol.

    Well the testlets are suppose to get harder if you do well, but the TBSs are pre-determined and have nothing to do with your performance on the MCQs.

    My guess is that you were just really super ueber prepared and didn't find it difficult as a result. I have not taken my CPA tests but when I practiced for the CMA I started out sort of rough. Everything seemed difficult. As I got closer to test day things were getting easier. I did a final review and went over all the hardest questions, making sure that I not only knew the answer, but also that I understood the concept. Test days seemed SUPER easy and I walked out of the test room feeling like I had either aced it or just got clowned. I passed by a wide margin and credit the fact that I put in the time to prepare.

    All the stuff about the grading curves, testlet difficulty, TBS difficulty, and the resulting score is sort of pointless in a way. I like knowing how they get to the resulting score but ultimately you pass or fail because you either know the material or you don't. Accounting isn't rocket science so the concepts luckily are not that difficult to understand. Its just a matter of putting in the time. I'm sure you passed!

    I wouldn't worry about it. FAR was the first section I took, and I was expecting the exam to be much harder. I was quite surprised when I finished the exam and I thought the questions weren't nearly as tough as my Becker questions. I worried because I couldn't tell that the teslets were getting harder, but I passed anyway. Sounds like you did okay, let us know! šŸ™‚

    FAR - 82
    BEC - 77
    AUD - 79
    REG - 81

    You mean your questions in Testlets 2 and 3 were easy too??? Wow! Mine were brutal and were harder than any practice question I encountered in Gleim. I guess the AICPA has made the FAR exam easier now. Heh!

    I felt the same way after FAR and got a solid grade. It seems like most of the big name reviews (I used CPAexcel) over-prepare you for FAR as long as you can do all the practice questions.

    FAR - Feb 2012 - 86
    BEC - Apr 2012 - 85
    AUD - Apr 2012 - 89
    REG - May 2012 - 78

    I felt the same for MCQs, but my SIMS were killer – at least, I thought so. Couple days and I will see how it really went.

    AUD 85 (2/22/12)
    FAR 81 (5/10/12)
    BEC 7/13/12
    REG 10/1/12

    using Becker

    Thanks CPAEms! I was SO happy when I saw, thought for sure the SIMS did me in. I still would just love to see my graded exam, but I will also happily forget about it. Started studying BEC today so on to the next one…

    AUD 85 (2/22/12)
    FAR 81 (5/10/12)
    BEC 7/13/12
    REG 10/1/12

    using Becker

    I thought the same thing about all three sections of MC. They were much more simple and straightforward than what the questions on Becker. But the SIMS were CRAZY. And I usually do OK on the SIMS (even when I fail). They have me really worried.

    I think you did fine scoop! I'm just really scared because I've never felt that the MCQs were so simple… anxiety attack until score release day I guess! lol. Sending positive thoughts to everyone!
