I just got out of FAR. I’m scared I failed it because I feel like I did good. If that makes sense. I used Becker and studied my butt off and felt like I knew every question that the actual exam threw at me. The Becker questions and tests were 50 times harder than the actual test. I did not feel like the MCQ sections were getting progressively harder which also scares me. The sims were straightforward for the most part. There were some questions with ‘tricks,’ but Becker laid out their questions the same way so it wasn’t a big deal. I can’t wait until September to get my score!!!!! I finished the multiple choice with 2 hours left and finished the sims with a half hour on the clock. I had time to review all of the questions that I flagged and reviewed all of my sims. I don’t know I felt like this test was much easier than BEC and much easier than the 2010 version. Another weird thing I came across is that I had the same exact questions twice in multiple choice. once in the first set and once in the third set. Is that normal? Without telling what the “trick” was, what do you mean by that? Do you mean trick as in read the question carefully or something else entirely? Way to go! Sounds like you nailed it.

I think we may have had the same test as I felt the same. I felt that international questions had a stronger presence in the 2 and 3 testlets compared to the first though. I too had the same questions on two occasions… Questions after knowing what the tricks were seemed remedial compared to Beckers…

It sounds like we did have the same test I feel the same way about the IFRS questions. The question I had twice related to IFRS.

If there was one exam where I thought “wow Becker's multiple choice were definitely harder” it was FAR. I was scoring 60s and 70s on progress tests in Becker before my exam and felt like I was going to get creamed. The fact that you felt good about the sims is even better—I bet you nailed it, but I do understand why you'd be doubtful, seems like whenever someone feels good about an exam its not a good sign. On the other hand—you seem to be aware of the “tricks” so I doubt you overlooked the questions.

APCPA – my experience in April sounds very similar to yours. I finished the MC with 2 hours to go, I had one question 2 times, and I didn't think it was extraordinary difficult. Hope you get the same result!!

I just walked out of FAR. When I say walked out I mean I had an hour to go, started crying in the middle of the SIMs and got up and left. I already knew i had failed. My MCQs never got harder, all seemed a bit too easy. I left no SIMs blank but guessed on most. Knew I wasn't ready for this exam 🙁 but NTS was expiring. I've taken ReG twice and scored a 59, 60, using Becker. FAR I'll be lucky to score a 60. Well back to REG I guess.

I took FAR today as well. I thought I had seen the same question on two testlets as well related to IFRS. Unfortunately I got stuck on one MCQ (an easy one) that I swear that I was calculating correctly, but got none of the answers. I only had an hour to do the sims and didn't feel like I had enough time to complete them well and rushed through, so I hope the errors I had were minimal. I really don't know how I did, but I agree that the Becker questions were harder than the exam. My scores on final #1 for MC were 50 to 73, although I did pretty well on the sims except for pensions (needed to study more) and acct changes (stupid mistakes) after I adjusted the scores (my answers were counted wrong because my JEs were not in the same order as the key). Hope I passed!

The last time I took FAR I came upon what I considered an easy question too and upon calculating the answer, the answer I got was not one of the choices. I honestly think the test had it wrong and I wrote as such in my comments after the exam. If the exam was right, which it probably was, to this day I still don't know what I was doing wrong on it.
