This was my very first exam…. heres a highlight of my experience :

1- Mcq’s were very reasonable straight forward! No heavy calculations.
2- Sims were insane & some sims I never even seen before & at the end of the last testlet I was already losing my concentration :/
3- prometric center provided a very poor marker can barely writes. I highly recommend you request pen & paper prior to the exam.

I could’ve studied waaaaaaaay more NFP & governmental, consolidation.

Iike anyone else took the exam, I cannot expect anything. Oh well, I am going to start studying for AUD this week & I will definitely practice more tough sims this time.

@Oe99 What do you mean by “sims were insane”? Were they crazy hard? Too many documents to review or tested heavily on the concepts?

@preksha yes! too many documents to review specially on the last sim I had 6 documents! NFP & governmental, contingencies & disclosures were heavily tested as well.

@oe99 what software did you use? I have around a month before my exams.. could you guide me as to how to better manage my time and what I should be focusing on during these 30 days?

I took it this past weekend. Similar experience, it is a retake from failing April’s test by 3 points. I felt like I was doing incredibly well until the last two sections and will get a lower score this time because of that. I’m using Wiley, will most likely ditch it if I didn’t pass this time and switch to something else. I feel like the software is missing material and its sims do not align with the current version of the test at all. Retaking AUD in December, failed by 1 point last time, really not liking Wiley anymore.

I ditched Wiley after failing FAR. I felt I learned alot from it but I was not a fan of the “bite sized” lesson and how they schedule them out depending on your test day. There was like 200 plus lessons and no way in hell could I get through them all in like 3 weeks while working full time. I've been reading the NINJA book and so far I've enjoyed how much more straightforward it is than Wiley. Hopefully that helps me pass the second time around.

3 weeks for FAR… interesting. I felt like 10 wasn't enough to fit all the material.

@preksha Here's what I did : I studied FAR materials for the first time 3 month, last month I re studied again all 10 chapter, cram session (Reading & Mcq's) last 10 days I worked on Becker's final review book it was a great tool to conclude everything at the end and to refine my notes. Writing your own notes is very helpful & keep updating them, also dedicate time for Sims as much as the MCQ.

@BobbyD I used Becker & Becker's final review. I will still use it since I didn't see any question or any concept in the exam that I didn't see before, But I am defiantly going to find another source for the Sims because Becker's sims are worthless comparing to the actual exam's. I have a great feeling that I am going to re take :/

I took the exam on 10/01. I don't think so I will pass. MCQ's were ok but SIMS were killer, at least 2-3 with lot of documents to review. Waiting for Dec 11 score release and would not be shocked if failed but will be shocked if I pass.

    AUD - September 2016
    REG - October 2016
    BEC - November 2016

@KJ welcome to the 12/11 club! totally had the expereince, all the sims were DRS type. I had a chance to pass before the sims. I think the research question was correct. but in my 2nd attempt I will focus too much on how to hammer any sim!
