Well, Just got back from my FAR exam and it seems like it went well. First testlet was shorter questions, the second wordier but not necessaryily harder, same with the third. Sims were pretty straight forward, several topics in each.So does wordier mean increased difficulty? I hope so, I felt good leaving. Now a month of waiting 😀

    AUD (11) & FAR (10) = 89
    BEC (10) & REG (11) = 78

    FARbehind,

You said you ran out of time, but it sounds like you did your WC on the simulations. How did you do, overall, on the MCQ? I know you said it was 80% calculations, but do you believe you knew how to do most of them – just took a lot of time? If you got most of those correct, excluding the pretest ones – and it is probably safe to presume some you struggled with were pretest, you may have pulled out a 75 anyway.

    2010Please,

I was comfortable with the calculations, it just took more time than I had originally planned. I had only 40 minutes left for the two sims. The first thing I did was the WC, then went to the tabs but they were long and I only threw few random things on one of them. I wanted to go to the next sim to do the WC. I did the second WC in a hurry. No research done, tabs left blank. It would be a miracle to pass. But thank you for giving me hope.

Don't worry about the exam. You will be fine if you manage your time well. Everything on this exam is doable. Just make sure you watch your time and leave at least 75 minutes for the simulations.

I think slow people like me could benefit from the new format actually. I am just worried about the new content…

    FARbehind,

The clock is no friend of mine either. I ran out of time on REG and AUD. Yeah, I know, most people have time left over on AUD, but one tab on my last simulation was really strange and it took me forever to figure out what it was even wanting me to do. Also, I missed everything on my second REG simulation (even the written communication – just didn't do it) and came out with an 85 overall. If you did well on the MCQ and your WC, you could have very well passed.

I believe if you are going to take extra time anywhere, you are better off taking it on the MCQ, especially if it means the difference between getting them correct because you know how to do them or guessing wrong just to move on to the simulations. I'd leave my guessing for the simulations any day since they count only 20% of the overall grade (excluding WC which is the other 10%). Having said this though, I do try to manage my time and get through the MCQ as quickly as possible, as I'm sure you did…just saying, if you ran out of time because you worked hard on those MCQ and you still did decent on the WC, don't count yourself out of the fight. Just try to relax until scores come out. 🙂
