I am not the smartest person in this world, I barley passed college if it wasn’t for projects. My accounting knowledge is pretty bizarre, I plan on studying for the audit part of the exam. Yes, I am going to buckle down and try my best. Like i said my accounting knowledge really sucks, I really need help in this CPA thing what will your advice be and i am blessed to have someone else becker log in, that really helps me. Frustrated and scared student you can say. With this new cpa exam i much more sacred because i really dont know what think of, how different will it be from the older exams, this higher order thinking skills, my thinking skills are already not the best i suck at making decisions and picking the right answer. You can see i am just really scared. sorry for this long message, I am just frustrated and stressed because my reading skills and comprehensives just suck. Having an accounting degree without the cpa is worthless it seems like, on top that if you are in my position barely passed college. I really need this cpa, how much are they changing the materials, as anyone been reading upon it ?

Dont know what to make out my life

kman21, I know your fear. I just finished passing all four exams and went through the same process. I think you will find that once you get into the material, most of it will not be as difficult as you think. It's the volume of material that gets most people, not the content. If you have Becker, the materials will have already been updated for the new exam. I would say make a day by day schedule and focus on doing the things you need to do everyday, not just when you are motivated to do so. This is more of a test of discipline than it is intelligence.

Really how and what you did in college has nothing to do with this exam. I've seen people who were art majors fly through this and people who majored in accounting with a 4.0 GPA that really struggled. People who have been out of college for DECADES, since before SOX was the law have passed this. If you do the work and put in the time you'll pass regardless of what got you to this point.

I honestly felt similar to you when starting this journey. I majored in accounting in college but I felt like I did not have a very strong accounting background/understanding when starting my journey for the CPA. Basically, you're really going to buckle down. Treat this exam like it's your part time job and take it 1 day at a time. Utilize your resources! I watched so many Youtube videos to understand basic accounting methods like normal account balances, LIFO vs. FIFO, etc. I literally had to revisit the basics all over again. If you haven't decided already, I would highly suggest studying for FAR first. It will not hurt you if you don't but I think FAR is the best way exam to tackle because it drives home accounting that we learned in college and forces you to know it and understand it. If you are struggling with the material in FAR, again find easy, simple videos or summaries on Youtube/Google. FAR really helps you understand and makes you think which will translate to all of the other sections. I took BEC first and had no clue what I was doing and failed. Then I decided to just study for FAR that by the time I took BEC again it made so much more sense. Regardless, is you can do it! Trust me, I felt so helpless graduating college and felt like I was not smart enough to pass. I was completely wrong – it just takes persistence, faith, and determination.
