As I posted earlier, I was not happy about the excess of time I gave myself to prepare for FAR–I’m finishing F8 & F9 this week and then had until 8/18 for the exam. I was going to experiment and see if the extra time helped me, but I’ve decided that in the long run it’s probably a waste of time–if I can’t get this stuff in about the time it’s supposed to take, I’m not going to get it by giving myself extra time. That’s just how I learn/study.

I’m not taking FAR on 7/27, which means I’ll have 11 days of final review. There probably won’t be any days off in there, so it’s really not much different than a 2-week review which is what Becker recommends.

I’m looking forward to getting to the final review process–I expect to hit the topics hard and be able to perform much better the second time through them. If not, rest assured–there will be rants. I specialize in those lately!

I would suggest a few things here:

*Use this time to learn how to budget your time for the 4 hour exam. I had almost 2 hours for the SIMS and needed every second. I forced myself to move on when I was stuck on a MCQ…also, the research one is worth the same as any other SIM, so don't blow that off…

*If you are able to, buy Jeff's NINJA which has a lot of key points worth seeing in a different way than Becker

*Consider writing down notes as you are going back through the MCQ and the book. It helps you check your understanding if you have to put things in your own words…

*cpareviewforfree has some great questions and the wording is in a different style than Becker, so that helps…

One thing to consider, your 18 month expiration starts on the date you pass the first section, so make sure that you are able to take all 4 parts well before you come close to that expiration and leave room for the chance that you may have to retake a part…

I wish you the best with your exam 🙂 FAR is a beast, but I was able to conquer it and you can too!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!
