Just got Yaeger Study Materials and Have a Question for Yaeger Users

Just opened my box of Yaeger study materials. This is my first attempt at studying for the CPA exam. I watched the intro video as instructed in the letter enclosed with my materials. Phil Yaeger is very adamant that you JUST do the questions, SIMS, etc that they direct you to. No more.

Those who have used Yaeger and passed. Is this sufficient? I also have Becker 2010 books I’m borrowing and I have Becker flashcards as well. Should I JUST do as Phil directs—and only do what they say?? Or should I supplement with the other materials?

Also, any opinion on the Ninja notes offered here? I wonder if I’d learn more if I took my own notes—yet saving time sounds appealing. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for any help!

I did as many questions as I could get my hands on. I did all the wiley Q's, but only focused on my right/wrong % with the ones Phil talked about. I did all the Becker questions as well. I had becker 2009 and again did all of their Q's. I also did cpareviewforfree.com questions. I watched the videos, but after that, I did MCQ's till my eyes Bled. I think that's a huge aspect of studying for this thing.

I will receive my HS product in Jan 24. But I already started to review Wiley books.I already gotta one set of books from amazon. I believe ” more practice, more confidence!” For me, I think I will make notes by myself since I am the person know which point I am weak in.

I recommend doing the assigned questions and then doing the software questions for reinforcement. It worked for me, anyway.

CherylFutureCPA, like you I was skeptical about doing just those questions. I used Yaeger for both BEC & FAR and did the assigned questions and focused on the concepts. I would also ask myself what else they could have asked and what would the answer be if they asked it that way. I have passed both parts doing just the assigned questions. As a matter of fact I recommend that you don't do additional questions because sometimes they can confusing. When I took the exam there wasn't 1 concept that Phil and his team hadn't gone over. Some were more complexed and had unexpected twist but Yaeger had covered the material.

HazeEastwood, I'm glad to hear that! I think I will just trust that Yaeger knows what they are doing and I will just study what they say to study. Obviously a lot of people have had success with them. I just wondered because I've read that a lot of people started with other programs and then switched, so I didn't know if their previous knowledge contributed to them passing with Yaeger later.

Well I have only used Yaeger. So that's definitely not the case with me. So far they have been pretty accurate about what will be on the exam. Do the problems and understand the concept and why the answer is correct and understand why other questions are wrong and you'll be fine
