I’m writing this post to see what others think in regard to my overall feeling on FAR.

I felt good about the 1st testlet, pretty good about the 2nd testlet, the 3rd was a bit of a challenge, but in comparison to my past FAR exams, I would say I felt OK on the 3rd testlet. OVERALL, I felt GOOD on the MCQs. I gave myself an hour for the sims and by the time i got halfway through, I was scrambling through them due to time. They were tough. Only one of the sims did I feel absolutely sure that I knocked it out. The others, I felt like I was just kind of putting as many right answers as I could. I couldn’t even do the research questions.

Has anyone been under the same experience?

    AUD - 64, 75
    BEC - 67, 75
    REG - 33, 58, 76
    FAR - 41, 73, 84
    DONE.

Tip: If you don't feel like you're studying hard, you'll probably fail. Study harder.

ImpossibleIsNothing – we're definitely in the same boat. I hope you the best. If I fail, I guess I'll just buck up and start hitting the books again. It is what it is!

    REG - 33, 58, 76
    FAR - 41, 73, 84

Exactly. Sorta sucks feeling like a failure at times because of this exam since I am sure most of us are used to being in the top all throughout high school/college/work…but it is what it is, must push through. Here are some MJ motivational quotes I compiled during one of my study breaks.

“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, and others make it happen.”

    ― Michael Jordan

“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

    ― Michael Jordan

“You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them.”

    ― Michael Jordan

“To learn to succeed, you must first learn to fail.”

    ― Michael Jordan

“The minute you get away from fundamentals – whether its proper technique, work ethic or mental preparation – the bottom can fall out of your game, your schoolwork, your job, whatever you’re doing.”

    ― Michael Jordan

“If you do the work you get rewarded. There are no shortcuts in life.”

    ― Michael Jordan

LOL! Hustlin's friend is a total LIAR!! 🙂

FAR is the one exam I do not miss! I do not want to ever see FAR again! It was by far the hardest of the 4 exams I've taken so far.

MDS86 – I am in the exact same spot as you. I took FAR for the 2nd time yesterday, if I passed I am done, If not I lose credit for AUD and REG. Obviuosly I want to be done, but if I have to retake those I am not too concerned. I am worried I will never pass FAR.

I felt super confident going into FAR yesterday and then got there and felt like they asked the weirdest questions!! I feel like I study so many different topics and details, then you get to the exam and they don't get to any of them! I am hoping I guessed well on the questions I wasn't totally sure of and filled in enough correct answers in the sims.

Speaking of the sims, when I first opened that testlet I paged through to see the different topics and I felt super confident about them….But then when I actually read the details of the simulations I was beyond confused. Am I the only one who often gets confused as to what exactly they are looking for in the sims?! The only thing I realllly understood what they were looking for were the journal entries! haha

    AUD - 73, 82 7/2010
    REG - 79 7/2010
    BEC - 72, 74, 78 7/2011
    FAR - 66, 83 1/2012 - AND I'M DONE! Best feeling ever.

i have a feeling with the CPA exam – you remember the questions you had a hard time with but totally forget the ones you flew threw, leaving you with a sinking feeling that the test was overly difficult. Even when I did Becker practice exams, they seemed hard but I was always pleasantly surprised by my scores.

    AUD - 64, 75
    BEC - 67, 75
    REG - 33, 58, 76
    FAR - 41, 73, 84
    DONE.

Haha no everyone. Facts are facts. He did take it before the IFRS changes though, but only in October-November of 2010. And it's no b/s. I saw his scored on the site for myself. It said he was weaker on all the sims, and he laughed and said he never completed a single one.

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

Even on the old format, that was impossible as MCQs used to be worth 70%. Where did your friend get the extra 10 points if he didn't do any Sims?? Makes no sense.

And even if it were true, leaving Sims blank and passing is IMPOSSIBLE on the new format since they're now worth 40 points.

So did he not “complete” any, as in he didn't quite finish any of the questions, or he literally didn't type a thing into any of the simulation fields?

    AUD - 73, 82 7/2010
    REG - 79 7/2010
    BEC - 72, 74, 78 7/2011
    FAR - 66, 83 1/2012 - AND I'M DONE! Best feeling ever.

ACCT – Did you get a score report? If so, were you stronger/weaker/or comparable in Sims and MCQs?

    Thanks

mds86 and others – thought I would give an update. I just rec'd my score on FAR, got stronger on MCQs, and weaker in SIMS…got a 76! It is possible. Good luck!
