attempting to memorize them for SIMS. What’s everyone else doing?

(This website has officially become my ADD break which is sad because during those breaks I prefer to “zone out” on a sport site. Instead I now use my free time to talk more about the exam. I am twisted individual.)

struggling through the progress test of BEC!! i think that this is the worst subject ever and if the calculations are anything like what I am doing in becker then a retake is definitely on its way!! 🙁

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

Yvonne, I saw that you said you lucked out on the SIMS today. Sounds like you nailed it (hopefully I'm not jinxing you). Any advice for me? Taking it Tuesday. At this point, I feel like any MCQ they throw at me, I'll have a pretty good understanding of the topic. The SIMS are what I'm worried about. Real nervous they'll give me a complicated Pension/Bond question that will destroy me.

Hard to tell since the questions are so random. Get a firm understanding of journal entries – which is what you are doing tonight. Cram on all areas of weakness. With so much entailed, you should do a practice test of all and see where your weaknesses are. You never know what they will throw at you. I did this a couple of days before the test and it worked. I did both practice tests. And was amazed how much I forgot at that time. Did another review and thankfully found those items on the test – with a huge wow, thankfully I did that. Saved me.

I went through my study materials and recorded all significant JEs. I dind't really find too many that I didn't understand. If I see them on a MCQ, I'll be fine. It's when they ask me to create several JEs from scratch is when I see myself struggling. Oh well.

Thinking a progress test of all questions is on my list of “to do's” tomorrow. Are you writing out the JE's ? I wrote the JE's down but think I may rewrite them until I can write them from memory. Seems my weaker areas are F4, F2, & F6 … borderline F5 as well (get 70-75% each time).

@yvonne hope you get a passing score, from the sounds of it you probably did! 🙂

@jjm1181 it's nice to know someone else is stressing as much as I am for FAR on Tues! You feeling pretty comfortable with all the topics? How's your scores now?

@AshleyCap…I feel good for most except for some certain areas that I plan to tacklet tomorrow. Pensions are a foreign language to me at this point. Cash flows trip me up frequently (which is sad). I feel I have a good understanding of all subjects, but it'll be those questions that ask me to dig a little deeper that will probably trip me up.

As far as JEs, I went page by page in the Becker materials and only found 20 or so that were important enough to write down. Many of the ones listed I thought were too obvious. This worries me because I hear that I need to know the JEs but it doesn't seem like there are that many significant ones.

Another thing I did tonight was that I began ripping out important pages of the Becker book that I wanted to emphasize the next two days (I figured it wouldn't matter since I'm down to 2 days left and if I fail I'll probably get new materials). For instance, at the end of each chapter, they have IFRS vs. GAAP page that states differences for the section. Those along with other diagrams or subjects I need to nail down would be good to have stapled together and ready at any moment to review.

I am just going to start doing 15 – 20 mini quizes on each subject all day tomorrow. Go from there and see what I need to focus in on during Monday's cram session.
