I heard they have a curve or something while releasing the score, so if you fall on that curve you will pass. So, is it true that if you test in between 30 to 45 days, you have more chance because less people sit for test in that period? just curios only..not a strong believer but welcome to any comments.

I have not heard of it being graded on a curve, but I have heard from somewhere that they may compare the questions to figure out which ones would be graded as hard depending on how many people in your testing window got those type of questions right or not.

Not 100% sure but I heard it somewhere….

FAR - Attempt 1-(70)...Attempt 2 (Passed Baby)-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.
AUD- Attempt 1-Passed!!!!!!!!! )-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.

    BEC-Attempt 1-(71)...Attempt 2 (Passed Baby)-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.

Grading is something which you can't control ,whether its curve, pretest OR 74 .:-(

JCW I believe the difficulty level and thus relative scoring of each question is determined before the beginning of the window not against other candidates in the same window. Thats why every exam has pretest questions, to determine if it is an easy question (lower to no points awarded) or a harder question (more points per question)

mIa is right. They use prior year and prior quarter data to set the difficulty level of questions in subsequent windows. You are not compared, in any way, to other candidates testing in your same window.

Just wanted to share what I read in an earlier post on this site regarding this topic. Take this for what its worth.

Someone said that they weren't able to show up for their FAR exam they had scheduled. When they got their test score later on in the testing period they received a 39.

The exam has to be curved, otherwise how do you consistently get results of ~40% pass rates each window for each test?

First, whoever said that is full of crap. If you dont show up, you dont receive a score.

Second, the AICPA has years and years of data. Given the number of candidates taking the exam and the data set they have to work with, it is quite easy to design an exam that has a consistent pass rate between 40% and 50%.

If there is not some kind of grading scale then why does it take so long to get scores (Exluding BEC)..If there is no curve, comparison, etc. why do they wait to realease score. The computer knows if you got them wrong or right because the MCQ testlets adjust to you during the test. Thus, if there was no other criteria then why not tell you your grade right then?

JCW I'm not sure why exactly the scores aren't released instantly but if the AICPA says the exam is not scored on a curve, I'm not sure why many people want to believe otherwise

I sure hope that they make an exception and curve the score of the FAR exam that I took yesterday!
