Is it socially acceptable?

Due to the massive amounts of backed up work that i face each morning, coupled with late night adventures of CPA review materials, topped with chasing around my energetic 2 yr old daughter at night….. I have decided to take up training for a 10k. Sure this makes sense. I mean, who doesn’t want more on their plate? Right? I mean right? Hello…?

Anyway, since I am now waking up early to run, then staying up late to study, I was wondering if it is socially acceptable to tape my eyelids open. I’m not sure if this will actually help keep my brain active, but at least it will give the appearance that I am awake. As a bonus, it has to be better on my heart than drinking a gallon of starbucks coffee each day. Any thoughts? Or better yet, is anyone aware of tricks on how to accomplish daily tasks while remaining asleep?

Too bad you don't sleepwalk (a mild case lol) where you actually are asleep, but are still able to do stuff! That would be pretty cool…imagine taking an exam while sleepwalking!! haha

I am with you. I have an 18 month old and am training for my first full marathon. I get up in the morning and run, work all day and then try to manage studying and my son in the evening. I do think some times though that the running is the only thing that is keeping me sane 🙂

Wow CPA one day. That dwarfs my 10k! Good for you. One day, maybe I will get to that level. I'd love to pick your brain about different running questions, as I just started getting into it myself. Started with a few 5ks. Good luck to you

Running keeps me sane as well!

You could always listen to accounting audio review materials while running…

Joemark – this post definitely made me laugh a little. Who couldnt use some tape for their eyelids!! Exercise is hard to fit in my schedule too (let alone regular training for a 10k) but you just feel great after a good workout. During this time its also very easy to reach for the junk food but i have been proud of myself with eating healthy and trying to get workouts in when you can.

All – does anyone know where you can get the audit CDs or who makes the best CDs? I've thought about this but i'm not sure where to turn.

I'm also training for a full marathon on 10-10-10! Chicago Marathon here I come!! And yeah, I go through Becker acronyms on my long runs, and I've also found myself reciting them in my dreams. I don't realize I'm dreaming so I'm constantly trying to take advantage of any “free time” to go over acronyms LOL

@ abacus – lol, I refuse to even think about work or the exam when I am running. That is my only “me” time all day long and I pretend that the CPA exam does not exist.

@ Florida_Candidate – good luck in Chicago!!! I still have plenty of time – I am training for the 26.2 with Donna in Jacksonville and it is not until February. Running in this heat is slowly killing me though (I'm in FL too).
