I’m only on F2, and I’m having such hard time. I thought REG was hard, but now that I think about it, REG is a piece of cake compared to FAR (in my opinion). I took REG three times, mainly b/c I skipped chapters/barely studied the first two times..but once I did really studied, I enjoyed it and it actually made sense to me.

FAR just seems like bunch of memorization without making much sense. Is this normal? Will I be able to pass?

I have FAR and BEC to go, and I’m way more nervous/depressed now than I was ever before.

I don’t mean to complain, but I’m really losing hope…

    Hi,

i dont use Becker so when u guys say F2 and F3 etc. i dont have a clue what topic it is. I am also sitting for FAR in May (hopefully) and like to read the threads to see any advise and or contribution i can make to help. However I cant do that because i dont know what topic you are referring.

My suggesting is that for Becker students can you please put the topic with the F2 etc so we Wiley students can have an idea of the topic you are referring to in your thread. Just saying…………………..

Second that, using Roger myself. I feel like one of the uncool kids cause I don't know the lingo.

Lord, please give me a ready recollection of the things I have studied. Amen.

Good to know that I'm not the only one who finds F2 hard.

    For non-Becker:

F1: Income statement, Comprehensive income, Segment Reporting, etc…

F2: Matching (Rev & Exp), Partnerships & Foreign Currency Accounting.

The review I'm doing suggests studying +100 total hours for it. I know it used to be the most difficult, but I think REG now has the crown. They're all pretty close when it comes to pass rates (everything is mid-40% give or take).

It definitely seems like FAR has the most information and lengthiest review materials.

I'm up to F4 (working capital and fixed assets), not as bad as F2 or F3, but not fun either. I can't remember what I did yesterday, let alone anything before F4. Review is going to suck.

I'm finishing up F2 tonight, then reviewing F1 & F2 tomm & Thursday. Reviewing meaning redoing all the hw questions and SIMS as well as reading the chapter again.

Luckily, I've been able to connect info. between 1 & 2, but not sure how long that'll last.

My motivation for FAR is that “others have done it, it's not impossible…”

If FAR only consists of 8 chapters (like REG) instead of 10, then it'll definitely be easier.

Esp without Govt & Not for Profit … lol

To me I feel like FAR is manageable even with the large amount of information, at least the topics are related somewhat.

I am studying BEC and feel like it's the hardest. There are just too many subtopics with lots of formulas which do not make sense at all.

Yeah I thought studying for BEC was much harder than studying for Audit, but BEC only has a few tough chapters, FAR has 10 tough chapters lol.

Don't let people scare or intimidate you. Everyone here will have different strengths and weaknesses… only you can decide what is ‘tough'. FAR is definitely the section with the most material on it, how well you grasp the concepts will depend on your background.

When I studied FAR, it's like trying to hold four watermelons with two hands. FAR is harder than AUD and BEC for sure. For me, FAR > AUD > BEC. To me BEC is like four chapters (Becker) since the economy chapter is like refreshing your memory of Eco101. I am starting REG now. Can someone let me know how hard REG is compared to other three?

from my experience REG was the hardest. FAR is only difficult because it covers a lot more material than the other sections, but this is material you should also be familiar with unlike BEC. what worked for me was Understanding (not memorizing) the material covered in the heavily test sections. Governmental & not-for-profit is heavily tested but the questions are really easy if you have covered the material. Leases, Bonds, Pensions, Taxes ….spend some quality time on those. For sections covering, depreciation, OCI, working capital, completed contracts and all those minor things, I think going over them once and reviewing them a day before the exam should prepare you for the exam.

    FAR - 85
    AUD - 77
    BEC - 81
    REG - 76

I have only taken REG & AUD, and from my experience, I think FAR is harder than REG.

It took me three tries to pass REG, but that was my fault…lack of studying, etc. REG made sense to me after reading it 2-3 times, and besides memorizing few tax rules and b-law, it wasn't impossible.

I just didn't like AUD. I passed it second time and I got lucky…even though I studied really well and I felt like I knew the material, the test was just something else.

FAR: Not only does it have way too much information, there's way too many little topics. Obviously, it's not impossible, but it's a challenge for me. Once I read it couple times, I feel like I'm “getting it.” I try to picturize the information at night and right before I wake up to see if I'm remembering previous chapters. Crazy method, but it kinds works.

    BEC: Haven't started….
