If I start studying tonight do you think I can be ready to take FAR by end of February? Probably Februrary 26, 27, or 28.

I am using Becker and they have ten chapters for FAR.

I study about 30 hours a week since I also work full time.

I would say yes, but it depends on your background. I am a GL accountant and prepare financial statements and cash flow so some of the chapters were pretty easy. Pensions took some time and governmental took some time although ironically, I work for a governmental agency we are an enterprise fund and don't do encumbrances.

    Reg - Passed 82 Nov 2012 - Becker
    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker

I would say that is plenty. I studied about 100 hours for FAR. I worked full time as well. The biggest thing for me was to make sure my study time was efficient.

I think you got plenty of time. You should leave a week to review NFP and Gov. I studied those parts together, and at least two days to go over IFRS, I ignored IFRS while studying the other chapters and at the end of my studying I tried to remember things that are different from GAAP. And also JE, those are very important for your SIMS. Good luck!

Perfect amount of time. They say you should put in about 250 hours of studying for FAR.

Yes, that's plenty of time. I would advise taking the most time on the first exam, whatever it may be. For me, there was a learning curve with these things. Becker provides you with an outline and how to use their materials. I started there but quickly changed some things up. Once I figured out how to use their materials to match my learning style, I was a lot more effective.

For me, I would go through and watch the videos highlighting and making notes like they suggest. I would then go back and read each chapter very slowly and type detailed notes. My notes were basically a copy of the important Becker notes that I rewrote in my own words so they stuck out to me. I would have probably 7-10 pages of single spaced, detailed notes, per Becker Chapter. After I got through all of that, I would read the detailed notes I typed, then start the problems. This was probably 3 or 4 weeks before test time. I would do multiple choice questions whenever I got a chance, and I would carry my notes around and read them whenever I got a chance to keep random chapters fresh. FAR is a little difficult to stay focused because there are so many chapters. It was also the one I played around and tried to figure out what worked.

You have Becker, so studying should be easier for you. I used Wiley and it was so painful. Some of the harder topics will be pensions and governmental/non profit. You'll probably need 150-200 hours of study time.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

I suspect you should easily be able to pass with 10 weeks (300 hours). I studied for FAR for about 8 weeks 40 hours a week (320 hours). My best advice though is make sure you're doing flash cards on breaks at lunch (and understanding their underlying concepts) and do optional/supplemental questions LAST after you've completed all chapters.

When I sat for FAR I fell behind quickly and became intimidated because of the volume of the extra material for Chapter 2.
