Friends, I have been informed that carrying our own calculator , even a simple one, in not allowed in the exam centre ! We must rather use the one available in the computer!

Is that true for all exam centres ??! Gosh, I am so bad in using the computer calculator 🙁

    Any idea ?

Absolutely — get the Wiley MCQs (or some other source) and use ONLY the on-screen calculator for ALL your practice. You will save time at the real exam.

Hey, is there anyone out there who actually used the spreadsheet function on the exam to do the MCQs? I can't imagine taking the time to set up a spreadsheet . . .

lol @dianepage good question….. I can see myself losing major time setting up a spreadsheet… n the calculator is pretty user friendly….I believe it shows every calculation in a trail format… saves time recalculating stuff

You can use the AICPA practice test to practice using the calculator there. If you have Windows 7, the calculator there has a tape mode just like the CPA calculator.

I don't think I've ever come across an MCQ that I thought could be better solved on a spreadsheet versus a calculator. Sims on the otherhand, I've had a few where the spreadsheet was actually helpful.

LOL CPATERMINATOR, I was travelling and thought the TSA should subcontract out to Prometric…….because I swear it was harder to get into the test center than to get on a plane.

I was actually worried about the calculator function when I took FAR, I thought I would freeze and not be able to use it.. I actually did not mind it,,, it's easy to use so don't sweat it, make sure you practice using it before the exam though
