Is BEC going to totally own me?

I’ve gone over mostly everything twice in Becker. I’ve been doing MCQs all day long.

I just did a 100 question progress test and got a freaking 77.

My exam is on Saturday. Am I totally screwed? My inner Whiny McComplainerson hates this section so much. Even studying for FAR was not this bad.

Nah, keep telling yourself “I have to learn ONE more thing” then learn something you haven't already mastered. Rinse and repeat until you sign in at prometric and you'll be fine!

I felt that same way as well… The computations for B2 are sooooooo much simplier.. you could do it in a minute. I had no hard calculations.. Its just those darn theory questions that confused me!! Good luck!

Well, I just wrote notes on all the problems I got wrong. I have all of tomorrow off, and I am not really sure exactly how to spend my time most effectively (and efficiently! ::sobs::), to be honest. Other than keep trying, keep studying, etc. I keep getting stuff in B3 and B4 wrong mostly… I'm going to take a break for dinner and then get back to it. Thanks for the encouragement.

I don't want to freak you out, but if you struggle in B3 make sure you go over the sections you are weak in again (I'm assuming you have the 2012 version), it's 19%-23% in the exam and I had a lot of math questions on it in my exam that I took less than a month ago…

Remember though, the Becker questions are of a high difficulty. I'm not saying the actual exam isn't, but look at it like this, if you were to see all of the Becker questions for the first time ever when you sat for the CPA exam how would you do? If you think you would get at least a 70, in my opinion, you would pass with flying colors!

    AUD – 77

    REG – 78

    BEC – 76

    FAR – November, 2012

@bighitter– first time I took the test I was in no way prepared. My husband and I were in the process of buying a house and I had handled basically all the paperwork and inspections and all that, while working, while going to school. I flat out didn't even study corporate, partnership, or estate taxation (and never had a class on any of that), and my only study material was a bisk book. No lecture, no testbank (though there were MCQs in the book), no software. I knew going in that I was horribly unprepared and I knew coming out that I had failed spectacularly.

Soooo…. then I got becker. And I did two sections a week, spent about 20 hours a week for four weeks, then spent the next three weeks reviewing for about 15 hours each week. I felt really prepared going in, and completely unsure coming out. I think what helped me most was the lectures. I took intensive notes as I watched each lecture, and I watched everything but the individual tax lectures twice. I also did all the MCQs twice, and did the AICPA recently released questions. I was expecting to bring up my score significantly, to something in the low 80s if I was being optimistic, but was totally shocked to see a 91.

Well, I've been doing progress tests all day and seem to be getting more in the 80s than the 70s. I just got a 100 on the IT chapter, much to my shock. I'm going to do this for a few more hours, work the AICPA questions from this year and last year, take a few more notes, and call it a night. Good luck to me, and anyone else who is taking a test tomorrow.

Well.. I just took BEC a few days ago, and I hated it!!!! It all seemed so foreign.. I felt even worse leaving the exam center after REG.. I was completely cursing out Becker for sucking so much.. and I had planned to take it after April of next year. I saw my score, thought it was a 65, was a bit dissapointed and thought nothing of it. I scrolled in on my iPhone to click the “View” to see where I was weak in, and much to my shock it said 85 not a 65! I scored Stronger in everything except Sim (Comp.)… Needless to say, Becker is GREAT! I think they throw everything they possibly can at you so your 100% prepared.

I felt the same walking out of the testing center during BEC.. I felt like I was making guesses on the whole exam.. The only part I felt OK about was the writing, since I had about an hr and 15 to write all 3 essays.

Who knows how I did.. It was torture studying for that crap.. but I am done, and hopefully I get a 75. If you do everything Becker asks you to do youll be good! B1, B4, B5 was a BIG part of my exam. The rest not so much. But remember, everyone has a different exam.

    Good luck! 🙂

    @futuremdcpa:

What are the topics in B1, B4, and B5? I am using Wiley so I have no idea what they are. Do you have the link for 2012 AICPA released questions? I will greatly appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

I think we are exam feelings twins… I liked REG, liked FAR topics, and don't particularly care for BEC, and am dreading AUD…. uuugghh. We will get through this, though!
