Is 3 months too long for FAR?

I scheduled FAR for November 13 and just started studying. I heard Jeff say 3 months is too long. I work 40+ hours a week and have a wife and were expecting a baby so I have life commitments. But is 3 months too long? Should I move it up a few weeks? Any advice would be appreciated.

When is your baby due? If baby is due in Nov or later then I'd pull the exam in. If baby is due in Sept or Oct you're going to have a few crazy weeks that you aren't likely to even remember so I'd leave it as is.

I spent 4 months on REG because I also work full-time and had a very big project going on at work. It depends on how badly you want to get it done quickly. I wanted to take it very slow because my first exam about did me in. I found with the 4 months for REG I started to forget things near the end that I had learned at the beginning. FAR is my next section. I am hoping to finish in 2.5 months. Best of luck to you.

I studied for FAR for about 2.5 – 3 months. I was so burnt out and forgetting everything by the end. I took it a week ago but I definitely feel like I did not pass. I'm going to start studying next week and limit myself to 1.5 months to study for FAR. There's just so much and you could honestly spend FOREVER mastering it, but by then you'd forget the first chapter.

But my circumstances are much different than yours. I have no baby on the way or other commitments other than work. If you can really force yourself to review and not forget that material, go for it! Everyone learns differently.

Baby is due in the middle of December. But there's baby showers were hosting and all the fun stuff like lamas class. So I was gonna take my time and master it and try to hit it around 2 hours every day.

Don't use baby showers and Lamaze classes as excuses to study only 2 hours per day. I want to explain why, if you allow those very few, predictable hours as reasons why you can't study more its going to be nearly impossible to finish this in 18 months with a new baby who is going to go through teething, viruses, etc. Even though those things are coming up you should get FAR out of the way in the middle of October and be nearly done studying for another section in January so you're halfway done.

It will only get harder to allocate time to study once you are a parent. Trust me.

Ajaz0810- congrats on expecting the baby and kudos for getting FAR out of the way.

I used Becker to study for FAR and my comfortable pace was a section a week + one week to review= 11 weeks. It all depends on your study plan. Review your materials so that you don't forget and you should be fine. Drill through tons of MCQs to stay fresh.

I work full time and spent 4.5 months studying for FAR. I think for someone who works full time, 3 months is ideal, in my opinion, especially if you want some semblance of a life. You can do one chapter a week and have 2 weeks for final review. You will start forgetting some early material if you don't do regular progress tests.

Yes, 3 months is too long. I am going to study a total of 7 weeks, (I'm 5 weeks in), and I'm already getting fuzzy on the week one topics.

11 weeks later, forget about it.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I agree with MLA. Get it done sooner rather than later! The last few weeks of pregnancy can be brutal and it would be nice to have some peace and quiet before your little one arrives. I am not working, but have a 19-month old at home. I studied for FAR for 8 weeks and felt that it was plenty.
