Hello everyone,
I am in a pickle. I got an internship (paid) opportunity about 6 hours from where I live at a construction management firm; however, the person who referenced me is a good friend of my father and also knows the recruiter well/works for the company. Well, I got an offer and start this upcoming Monday….but to add icing on the cake…the recruiter knows a local small CPA firm who is also looking for an intern…and I am now able to work part-time for both the construction firm and the CPA firm (40 hours total) paid. The opportunity lasts for 1-year and the CPA firm will hire me if I do a good job. The thing is, I don’t want to live in Sacramento. I have relatives there who will let me stay with them, but this is purely for the 1-year of experience.
Here is the dilemma, I just got contacted by a local small CPA firm yesterday (I interviewed for them a month ago)…and they are willing to offer me a 3 month part-time internship which also begins this upcoming Monday….and if I do well I can either extend my internship or get a full-time offer (depending on if they have any openings). To make things even more complicated…I also got an e-mail from ANOTHER CPA firm today (mid-sized firm) and the partner wants to speak with me tomorrow. I got in touch with this firm through their networking events (aunt knew someone who knows someone who works at the firm…and the someone my aunt knows introduced me to the partners at 3 events…and I spoke with them a good amount). Well, the last event was over a month ago and I randomly get an e-mail today regarding meeting the partner at the office.
The question is, what should I tell the partner tomorrow at the interview? I want to let him know that I have an offer from Sacramento; however, I prefer to work for his firm…and only get until this Saturday to make a decision.
Any help regarding this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks.
