I'm 99% sure I failed FAR today

I have never come away from a test feeling so defeated. I just don’t even know what to think. I have read a lot on here about people saying they were sure they failed but then ended up passing, but I really don’t know how it is possible with this one for me.

It was so hard for me to retain so much information (a lot of it I was not very familiar with). I mean I do know a lot about the material. If I sit down w/ the Wiley book and do the MC from any chapter I can do pretty well on them right now, but I just didn’t feel good w/ this exam. Its like if you know 50% of the material very well, and then another 25% of it just above average, and then the other 25% average to below average…and then you get no questions on some of the stuff you know really well…that just sucks!

    The sims…haha…completely bombed them.

Not a lot of things live up to the hype for me. This exam surpassed it.

    AUD - 81, BEC - 74, 80, FAR - 82, REG - 81
    Done!

I'm sorry to hear that. All I can say don't even think about FAR for now, not until you get your score. Keep your hopes up, they get rid of questions that most people answer wrong plus only one simulation is graded (lets hope its the one you did better on!). My becker profs said that about 24 questions in each testlet are graded plus the graded ones add up to more than 70% if you got the “hard” 2nd and 3rd testlets.

I'm sitting on the 16th and I just don't know what to think or do, maybe reschedule and give myself an extra week but my AUD becker class starts on the 17th. It just sucks how you think you know everything, but then when I do becker MCs I feel so discouraged! Plus it takes me 2-3 minutes to do every question! And after 50 questions I just go blank.

    Ahhhh…

    What…only one simulation is graded?

    FAR 92 - AUD 91 - REG 94 - BEC 86

That is what my becker prof told us that only one sim is graded and the other is thrown out, but I had to look it up now and here's what I found…

    https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-simulations/#comments

So I guess the correct answer is that only one written comm is graded and the other one is a pre-test one or not graded at all. That's how they say that you can still pass even if you never get to the second simulation if the 1st written comm is graded b/c you can get 10 points for comm and 10 points for 1st sim only….=20/30 points without even doing the 2nd sim (if first sim comm is the one graded)

AICPA also says that it grades exactly 25/30 question in each testlet. So my profs said that if you get a really odd one don't waste more than 2 minutes and that they will prolly put some IFRS pretest questions this window so move on as soon as you see IFRS!

Hopefully you are wrong about failing. The grading process is a bit of a mystery . Our exams go into a black hole and come out with a grade – who really knows? The exam comingles practice test questions with the regular questions. They may toss questions that too many test takers answer incorrectly. Often you hear that only one communication and one sim is graded – but the question is which one is graded?

Hopefully you did well on the MCQ and the communication and will only need a few points from the sim. Don't give up hope. Look at the number of people who passed last test window who felt the way you do. It is the Beast! We will have faith until proven wrong. Good luck on REG.

financeguy – don't give up so fast. I was saying the exact same things as you when I came out of FAR on May 28. I was depressed, angry…my brain just stopped working during the 2nd sim, I couldn't even finish it, and I didn't think the first sim was going to be enough to carry me. I was sure I'd be re-taking this beast again in the fall. Well, I'm not. I passed with a 91.

Stay positive, focus on your next exam study plan and deal with the score when you get it. I know that is easier said than done!
