When should we get our CPA certificate? I passed it all by December 2010. It's been more than a month and still waiting. I learned how to wait forever from my CPA experience. Thank you NASBA and ILBOA.

The IL CPA Certificate is 8″ x 10″.

You can go online and find your Certification# after you have passed all parts of the CPA including the ethics exam.

I rec'd my final passing score on Nov 20th, I rec'd my CPA Certificate# on Dec 1st, and I rec'd the actual hardcopy certificate sometime mid-Dec. I was really surprised @ how quickly the process was.

Now, the hang-up is getting the ILDPR to issue my Registered CPA and Licensed CPA licenses. Since you can't use “CPA” after your name until you receive one of these from the ILDPR I'm in limbo. ILDPR rec'd all of my paperwork on Dec 15th, but, they tell me that I won't receive anything from them until maybe mid-Feb!

    Hope this helps.

    DWS,

    Thank you for sharing!

One more question. When you said “You can go online and find your Certification# after you have passed all parts of the CPA including the ethics exam.”, what website do you mean?

    I can do it cpa,

You go to the IL Board of Examiners website… instead of applying for exams, which is on the left side of the screen, there is a section on the right side of the screen… I think it says something like “Your Certification”. If you click onto that you will find your Certificate# and date that it was issued.

    Hope this helps.

    DWS,

Thank you! I still haven't gotten anything ever since I received my score report for the last exam in late January. I guess I just got to wait a little more. CPA and patience……

    I can do it cpa,

I think that the IL Board had something on their website that they were getting to the certifications as soon as they could… like you said… patience!… hard to do though… :-)… @ least it's not waiting for our scores!!!

I'm still waiting on the ILDPR!…

DWS>>>I have a question….my license number is on ILBOA when i do a public certification search. Can I now put CPA behind my name?? I went to the ildpr is their number different from the number that is listed on ilboa website. Or is this number for people who want to become registered CPA's?? Why did you have to send paperwork to ildpr?? thanks for your help i am clueless now that the studying is over LOL

    magic_8_ball,

As far as I know, in IL anyway… you cannot put CPA after your name until you receive a “license” from the ILDPR. IL is a 2-tier state, which means that they “offer” 2 types of “licenses”… one is Registered CPA, the other is a Licensed CPA,

You receive these “licenses” from the ILDPR. Both allow you to put CPA after your name, the difference comes in w/the experience requirement, the CPE reqs and the cost(s) of the licenses.

There is more info on the ILBOE (Board or Examiners) website, and also, I found the IL CPA Society to have a pretty good website that highlights the differences.

I sent in for both the reg and the licensed CPA because I am planning on moving in a year or two, and was told that it might be beneficial for me to do so. If you are a licensed CPA in IL you do do not need to have a registered CPA license.

I am STILL waiting from the ILDPR… since Dec 16th!

    Hope this helps.
