Obama wants IFRS now! The SEC wants to wait.

The SEC will decide on IFRS adoption in 2011. The SEC wants to extend the timeline for IFRS at least to 2015 as part of a new work plan. The AICPA supports the SEC work plan.

However, the AICPA will have IFERS on their CPA exams in January. New York and Colorado are protesting, but they will lose.

The questions on the exam will be very general. The only hope for some CPA candidates is that IF 75% of the CPA candidates answer the questions incorrectly, the AICPA will throw out the questions. The IFRS questions will not count.

Haha good info, and very interesting… I can see the point of testing on the standards prior to the SEC adoption… But 4 years in advance seems like a bit much, if I was the AICPA I would push the testing of IFRS to 2013. Either way from what you are saying and from what I have heard IFRS will not be tested much… Yaeger has a review out now for ONLY IFRS and its only 3 hours so I could not imagine much will be tested.

    BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

There should not be many questions on IFRS in January and the questions will be very general in nature.

Yaeger is always on the ball and ahead of the curve, isn't he? I really admire Dr. Phil Yaeger and what he has done to help me and other CPA candidates pass all of these exams. I have tried almost all of the other CPA review courses, and Dr. Phil Yaeger was more help to me than all of the other courses combined.

I think that smart applicants will study it and be prepared (and hope that no one else WAS prepared!)

It will be interesting to see when/how IFRS is implemented.

Do you think candidates who are taking FAR exam in Oct/Nov window should buy and study the IFRS booklet? Or is this waste of time before Jan/Feb windoW?

There will be no IFRS on the FAR exam until January. FAR already has more information than you can wrap your arms around.

If you noticed, BEC will have simulations in January. However, the TOTAL number of hours for the exam remains the same. The AICPA just took 30 minutes from AUD and gave it to the BEC exam. Can you do two simulations in 30 minutes? I cannot! Perhaps someone else on this forum will explain what these new BEC simulations will entail.

I joke with the old CPAs. I tell them that they only had 30 FASBs to study. I had almost 200 FASBs to study. I am glad that I am finished with these CPA exams FOREVER. It is not getting any easier for you guys!

thanks 75 cpa, AICPA had some IFRS questions among the released in 2010 (see last questions) so i thought they already started having some IFRS questions. but maybe i am wrong. maybe these are pretest…

75 CPA – I heard that BEC will get written communications added to the exam in 2011, not simulations.

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!
