Off topic but when will IFRS replace GAAP (too lazy to search on web) and what are everyone’s plans to respond to the change?

Are they teaching IFRS in school these days? What is good/best way to learn (about) IFRS?

I have a slight exposure to IFRS because my previous position was at an international bank but not much. I don’t want to fall behind my 2011 CPA peers. Do you think studying IFRS is vital now to be marketable if you are in the financial statement preparation, accounting and reporting careerpath/auditing? I know many of you are rushing to finish FAR before the change. I understand that this may not apply to all of you but would appreciate everyone’s inputs and views.

    DONE!

IFRS will still be a while for the US market as a whole but some clients have needs for international operations. I work at a Big4 and IFRS isn't really a huge deal yet as far as pushing everyone to know. I imagine in the next 3 years+ it will have a lot more focus.

I'm not sure on the whole time line of stuff… but I just graduated in May and I didn't see anything IFRS related in my studies except it exists… I think the class or two below me are starting to see it, but not much of it so I don't understand how it will be really tested on the CPA exam if the colleges aren't teaching it…. just glad I won't have to see it on my CPA exams 🙂

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96
