If Jeremy Lin can do it…

I’m sure some of you have been following the amazing story of Jeremy Lin. An undrafted point guard out of Harvard, this young guy was not given the chance to play when he was signed a year deal with the golden state warriors last season. The warriors didn’t extend his contract and he was also cut from two NBA teams prior to the start of this season. The new york knicks took a chance on him because one of the managers recognized him. He was buried on the bench and was the 4th string point guard. However, injuries to the team and a desperate attempt to shake up the offense by the coach gave Lin the opportunity to play some minutes and help the team. He’s now a worldwide star, having led the Knicks to 4 straight victories averaging 20+ points along the way and torching the Lakers for 38 last night.

The moral of the story is, keep working hard, be prepared for anything, and eventually, you will reap the fruits of your labor. He didn’t give up no matter what happened, HE KEPT AT IT against immeasurable odds and didn’t let failure put him down. He continued to work harder than anyone else and when the time came to, he was ready for it.

If this young guy can do it, so can you. The CPA certification will ours as long as we keep working hard.

I'm an even bigger fan because of Kobe's comments. Kobe is a jerk and I love that Lin outplayed him.

Kobe's a jerk??? How's Kobe a jerk. Oh and Lin is not going to play like this forever btw. A few games vs. bad teams and in this case against Lakers' PG who make opposing PG's into stars.

@Jack – thank you for not jumping on the bandwagon. I would have said something, but I would have taken crap for being “negative.” let's see how this Lin finishes out the season and how he does next year. Can he sustain this kind of play? Doubtful. Teams will review the film and put together a strategy to shut him down.

While Kobe is still a p.o.s., he is one of the best players the game has ever seen.

I agree that this kid will come back to earth. But it's a feel good story and it's better than watching every highlight of lebron or wade dunk a ball. ESPN goes over board with their lovefest for Miami. Every basket they make the top 10 plays.

Kobe is a pompus @ss. Take off your yellow tinted glasses and see for yourself. Granted he basically told the media this kid was being overhyped, which he is, but the arrogance in which he acknowledges anyone outside “the NBA stars” is ridiculous. He acts like he doesn't know anything about anyone although I know he's watching the highlights. He did the same thing to Raja Bell years ago during the playoffs.

we all know he can't sustain 26ppg forever. He's a point guard and very few PGs have the ability to score that many points within a team system. It's a zero sum game; for him to score more points, he needs to distribute the ball less and that is counter-productive to what a point guard needs to do.

Yes, the nets/jazz/wizards are horrible but the lakers certainly are not. He was routinely going up against two 7 footers and finishing (and kobe was on him towards the end).

It is inevitable that he will come back down to earth once Carmelo and Amare return and clog the offense again but this kid showed the world that with hard work and a little luck, anything can happen.

I don't understand the haters. It's somewhat similar to Tebow…all they do is win (read: lin). They're both deeply religious, Lin has a charity set up as well and wants to be a pastor when he's done playing. They both give credit to their teammates when asked about their performance. (outside of that, I don't see the comparisons…Lin is actually good for 4 quarters, not just one. Lin is undrafted, Tebow was a 1st round pick, etc.)

He had a 3.1 GPA as an Econ major…at HARVARD. Are you kidding me? Won a state championship and was California's high school player of the year as a senior…received ZERO scholarship offers for athletics. Even after getting picked up by the Knicks, he got sent to the D-League where he just messed around and had a triple-double.

Team is 5-0 since he's played significant minutes (started the last 4). Mind you, he's been doing this without the team's 2 best players out with injuries and family tragedy. He has the most points in his first 4 starts (109) since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976…the next closes guy had 101 – Iverson. That's more than Shaq, Kobe, Jordan, LeBron, all of them.

From a basketball perspective, of course he can't keep averaging 26 and 8. That's because Carmelo (ball hog) and Amare (high volume shooter) are coming back this week. But tell me why he can't keep this up besides that. He just torched the Lakers, one of the best defensive teams. He outplayed Deron Williams, one of the best PG in the game. He just helped his team gut out a win at Minnesota in the 2nd game of a back-to-back against a pretty decent team from the West when Kevin Love went for 32 and 21. Where is this notion coming from that “oh, nice story for now, but of course he's bound to fail?” Just enjoy the ride. Lin story > Tebow story. He's shooting an unbelievable percentage for a point guard. Not to mention, he's playing with scrubs like Jared Jeffries, Mike Bibby (old), and Steve Novak as his teammates.

While I like Tebow, I understand that he probably can't make it in the NFL as a QB. Lin, however, has shown he has NBA potential and there's no reason to doubt him. He outplayed Deron Williams and John Wall. Amare will be perfect with him (a la Steve Nash and Amare from about 5-6 years ago). This kid has New York behind him, so Melo will have to learn to adjust.

Sorry for that, I just don't understand why people can't marvel at the story and the success, but instead are like “well, cool but you know he's not going to keep doing it. Just enjoy it! And yes, Kobe is on the all a-hole team.

    Starting all over.

He's a good story and inspiration. When melo and staudimier come back he will be passing more he will also be.left alone when opponents try to double team the two knicks superstars. He's smart player. And he has to be good because you don't walk onto teams in college and NBA without talent. I think racism had to do with him not being recruited out of HS for college ball and no draft after college. He will be making plays and handling the ball more in future. Ppg will be his secondary role

He did it again…buzzer beater on VaLINtine's Day. Knicks are rolling, 7 wins in a row. Instead of dropping 28 again, he just goes out and dishes 13 assists against the Kings. Should be a walk-through next game, then the big test against the Mavs.

With the emergence of Lin I would say they would have a chance against Miami/Chicago if they all share the ball. Miami &NYK, and Chicago & Atlanta. Called it.
