I took the exam yesterday and I just had 42 minutes to do the WC part. The first one took 20 minutes. The second one took 12 and I started panicking at that time. The first and second WC I remember asked for memo. The third one I read quickly and made up some BS and now I am second guessing myself whether it asked for memo or letter 🙁 I remember the first line I wrote was “The Purpose of this memo blah blah blah” I was in a rush.. Now, I am thinking how do I know it asked for a memo and not a letter. Do you think I would have noticed even if in hurry that it is asking me for a letter and not a memo?

This was my first time taking the CPA exam and I hope that I passed because I did put in a lot of time ( 6 weeks 5 hours a day) studying for this exam. If it was only MC I know that I passes but the WC part is making me nervous about my performance on this exam since English is my second language and I had no clue what I was writing 🙁

Did anyone else also had all memo’s to write on their BEC WC exam?

All 3 of mine were memos. All of mine on the Becker practice exams were memos, so I just assumed that they were always memos. I doubt it matters whether you said “In this memo”. I doubt it would be a point reduction, and even if it was, it would be a very small point reduction and should not be the difference between passing or not.

@cardinalhoya…Thanks for the reply….I am breathing much better now since u told me that you had all 3 memo's too. If you don't mind me asking how did you do on your BEC exam? How many questions did you just guessed? How did you feel after the exam? What your gut feeling and what was the end result.

I don't remember noticing if they were memos or letters and I don't think I wrote ‘the purpose of this memo' etc in any of them.

I felt horrible coming out of the exam! I totally guessed on a few too many questions and there were a bunch that I was totally not sure which answer to go with.

In the end I got an 85. I was doing cartwheels around the room when I found out! I happen to have pretty strong writing skills so I imagine that I got a boost from the WC section.

REG- 2/12 - 90 | AUD- 4/12 - 94 | BEC- 5/12- 85 | FAR- 8/12 - 82
DONE!!! I used Becker Self Study & Ninja Notes/Audio

@marks… Thanks for replying.. Looking at your scores for REG, BEC, and AUD I can clearly tell that you do know how to take a CPA exam and know how to pass it too. Yes, you are right having good writing skills definitely help to get better grades on the writing part. English is my second language and I even knew what to write but just couldn't come up with complete sentences to put my thoughts across 🙁

I did well on MC and would say got at least 40 out of 72 right. Would that be enough to get me a passing grade for BEC?

I thought they were always memo's, I dont think I have ever gotten anything else, even in Becker.

There's really no way to figure out if you passed or not. Last two times I have taken these tests, I thought there was no way I got less than 80 and both times I got 74, on BEC and AUD. I took BEC again tuesday so lets see how that went.

@chakdey…….I took BEC on Tuesday too 🙂 how did you do on the MC's questions on this exam and on the previous one that you failed? Were you feeling confident after the exam this time around?

I actually remembered close to 20 to 25 questions that I did right after the exam. Is that a good sign or not 🙂 I hope that I pass because I did study very very very very hard for this exam.
