I am scheduled for FAR late November 25th and im going to fail the exam because i haven’t had time to study. I’m on F2…

I passed BEC which expires in 2013.

Should i study for REG and AUD which i failed (July and August) during busy season or attempt to study for FAR which is on the 25th starting now and eventually take it again in Feb?

Can you push FAR back into early January? That way you'd have December to study. Or does your NTS expire or something?

    REG - 79
    BEC - 75
    AUD - 84
    FAR - 75

Since you still need to retake the first 2, I think if you gave FAR studies a chance – just kick up the study time, then you may be okay. Just give up everything else and let everyone know ahead of time what is going on. Think you have up to 24 hour notice to give for a reschedule – but check first – I may be wrong.

I'm suggesting you stick to it because you will need to retake 2 exams and may want to get FAR out of the way to focus on the next 2 retakes. Give it a shot. Honestly, I believe FAR may have been beneficial to take as the 1st one to assist with AUD that you failed. I felt that way when I took it. REG would not relate much. Good job on passing BEC; however, I am challenged with that one and the IT.

I would suggest to stop buying multiple NTS…buy and focus on one part at a time

I'd second pushing FAR back if possible. If not, take it, and wait the 10ish days to get your score. If you fail, I'd just jump right back into FAR. As you probably know, parts of FAR can flow into AUD. I have no idea if a tax season is going to help me in REG but I'm waiting till after tax season to take it, might consider that also.

edit: And if you can bust it the rest of November, December and a few weeks in January, there is no reason you can't leave yourself 6 weeks to knock out AUD in the first window with FAR.

You guys are absolutely correct. my NTS will expire in Dec (dead window). It was my first time taking the exam and i purchased all 4 at one time

So the consensus is study for FAR and if i fail, still study for it during the busy season? and focus on the 2 retakes after i pass FAR?

Thank you everyone for giving advice

It was actually my suggestion to continue with FAR and take the test.

Also, my employer allowed me to take a whole week off before each exam. Is that possible? Any time off would be beneficial. Since your NTS is expired and FAR is a good test to start out with before AUD, I would give it a shot – intention to pass. Don't expect to fail. Best case, you will pass it and be half way done in January:)

    @Yvonne570

I just started work this week so i can't take any days off hahah. I have yet to experience busy season so that was one of the reasons why i wanted to take a test that i wouldn't have to study from “scratch.”

    does this change your suggestion?

Not at all. My suggestion to you is to dedicate the evenings and weekends to get FAR out of the way to retake AUD/REG. NTS expires in December. I would go for it to get ready for the next 2. If it's like November 20 and you are completely still behind and getting absolutely no where, then maybe. But you have 10 days so get going. I have a full time job and a single mother with extremely difficult teens and no help – no family here. So I know how it is to be busy.

Get back to work. Study very hard this weekend and keep us posted:)

Since your NTS is expiring before the next window, what do you have to lose? You can't reschedule FAR for Jan, so just go for it. Worst case scenario, you have an idea of what they may test you on. Best case, you pass!

If you were able to reschedule I would say reschedule where confidence is key. Seeing that isn't an option for you just go for it! With the new score release you will find out fairly quickly if you passed or failed. If you don't happen to pass just keep studying and retake it in January before tax season gets crazy. Good luck!

I would suggest taking Audit since you have such a short period of time

    BEC- 76 (08/10)- PASS
    AUD- 85 (11/10)- PASS
    REG- 71 (02/11), 81 (04/11)- PASS
    FAR- 73 (05/11), 74 (08/11), 79 (11/11)- PASS

I would say go for FAR this window. My test was all about basic topics, so if you go thru the chapters taking good notes, you will be fine. Make lots of MCQ's and go for it.

I spent the last week of my studying focusing on difficult topics, and none of them were on my SIMS, I had like 5 MCQ's. I am not sure that I am going to pass, because I kind of forgot about the basic stuff.

    Good Luck!!!

Well I kind of have the same dilemma since I failed FAR this quarter and will have to retake during Q1 2012. I talked with my boss and asked which month would be best to schedule my test with busy season coming up around mid February. He suggested that I focus on my test because that's more important right now. So, I'll be scheduling mine for the end of February which gives me almost 3 months to study. I also work for a tiny firm so they're a little more lenient and supportive of me getting my CPA first and foremost. Good luck studying!
