I need motivation!

I was supposed to take FAR on Aug 31. I expected to have all summer to study. Instead, I ended up working temp in dues processing for my current employer. I was offered a permanent position that I could not pass up, which started Aug 27th. I did not take FAR on 8/31 because of this. I know my employer (who makes the test…) would have let me take it, but I didn’t feel prepared. I have decided to take it Nov. 26th.

I have 6 weeks. I leave the house at 7am, and get home at 6pm. I have 7 children (6 at home ages 3, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 14.) I already get up at 4am and fall into bed at 9pm (anything less than 6.5-7 hours and I am no good.) My husband helps a LOT, the kids are doing a lot, and I have lowered my standards Taking care of this many people just takes a lot of effort. I feel like time slips away so fast!

I need to pass this in November, so I can get on with AUD and then my life. I need the motivation to carve as much time as possible out of my crazy schedule to get this done. I am halfway there, yet I feel like this will never get done.

Someone give me a “get of your butt and put your big girl panties on” lecture. Please!

While I cannot completely comiserate with you(single with one dependent cat) all I can say is look back at what you were able to do and just keep going. You are half way there!! Dont give up!!

I think it is difficult for many of us to be able to “lecture” you on this one – you have so much more on your plate, I can't imagine! Hopefully you have Ninja Audio that you can listen to on your commute, if you have a longer one. You may have to take several nights a week and not go home after work but find a library to study at for a few hours. Do the same on weekends. Is your husband willing to become a “single dad” for awhile? While it is not ideal having to spend a lot of time away from your husband and children, you are already halfway into this and do not want to stop now.

Sounds like you have a wonderful, supportive husband and family – don't let them down! (That's the best I can do for a “lecture”.) 😉

    FAR - 92 (4/27/12)
    AUD - 96 (7/17/12)
    BEC - 92 (8/30/12)
    REG - 91 (11/12/12)

Thanks. I don't think I can get away a couple of nights a week – there is just so much to do during the week to make sure they are ready for the next day. I can study more on the weekends, and make better use of my downtime during the week.

I need to go back to listening to the NINJA audio during my commute.

I do Wiley Test Bank questions during my lunch hour. I am consistently scoring in the 70-80 range, but there are some areas I just don't know. I need to focus on those.

Overall, I need to remember than this is just for a season, and this time next year I will have my CPA license. I am doing this for my family – their financial future depends on it. Small sacrifices now will lead to big gains later.

renee – YOU CAN DO THIS! I am too a married mom although only of two kids at home (8 & 4) I know what it's like to have A LOT going on during the week and making sure EVERYTHING is getting done (homework, trucking kids to soccer practice, games, etc…) I get it. I also had to take time off for awhile because my sister went missing (and is still missing) I finally just told myself you know what THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT get off your butt and let's finish this ! Just remember every day that you are SO CLOSE! You obviously have been able to pass two exams however you are studying, but I definitely would recommend the NINJA audio – I pretty much fall asleep to Jeff's voice every night now – weird? yes! but completely helping!

Keep going! You will feel amazing once you get those last passing scores!
