    I just spent $280 to join the AICPA. I am not sure if it was worth it. Does anyone see the benefit of being a member of the AICPA??

    I joined back in June. You get a nice membership cert, and I got my professional liability insurance thru them. I also got the aicpa visa card which I whip out and impress the ladies with LOL…there are some other benefits like Long term disability insurance…and the journal of accountancy

    Dunno what else I got out of being a member, it just seems like every cpa does it

    Do you have to have your CPA to join?

    It's worth it when you need your CPE – they have a sweet all-you-can-eat CPE buffet.

    @MFCPA

    No. I think I joined AICPA and my state society of CPA's before I even took any of the exams…

    It also looks good on your resume and you get interesting deals on things.

    I got a discount on Becker review because of my state society membership.

    You also get the magazines/papers they issue. More mail that's not bills!

    @Herbieherb LOL.. So on a date you whip out you AICPA visa card?? hahaha. Is it like a credit card?

    (As the bartender asks for payment for him and his lady friends drinks, Herbieherb slyly whips out his AICPA visa card, front side showing so his lady friend can see what a “cool” guy he is) mwahha

    @ peanut Lol yup! It actually is black colored…very sleek. A friend of mine mistook it as a black amex card…I notice the girls look at this card only…my other ones didn't get any notice in the past

    There are different tiers of membership.

    But to be a full member you have to have an active cpa license. There is associate member for those who passed the cpa exam, not licensed yet. International members student members etc.

    There's also various discounts you get at retailers like hertz or staples or something look on the website for complete list…later this year you can sign up for the your.name@cpa.com email, only open to full members.

    One of the greatest benefits of being a member of the AICPA, besides discounts on CPE, is their Life Insurance program. The premiums are extremely reasonable and on top of that they actually give you a partial refund each year which makes it an even better deal. Definitly worth checking out.
