InactiveOmg, I am so tired from studying for FAR, and I have done reading/doing questions twice by now using Becker 2011. Yet, I still feel like I didnt remember/understand everything…..
For the simulation part, did anyone ever have Governmental/N-F-P Org questions on it at all?
The part I hate the most is Pensions, is that topic heavily tested in MCQ or Sim?
Thx

ParticipantI'm right there with you. I have two Becker chapters to go on my second round, and then I'll be moving on to my third and final round. I am EXHAUSTED and BORED out of my mind, and I feel like I'm not retaining stuff. There's just too damn much of it. Rawrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
AUD - 95, BEC - 85
REG - 85, Rawrrrrrr FAR - 88
Used Becker for all sections.

ParticipantNo one is allowed to tell you which specific topics they saw on their exam. Besides, all topics have the possibility of appearing and what I had on my exam honestly has nothing to do with your exam. There is such a huge bank of questions and Sims they randomly draw from…
I hated studying for FAR…I just never felt comfortable with many of the topics and was exhausted by exam day…my exam was terrible too, but somehow I managed to pass…you don't have to master every topic in order to pass…
Best of luck to you!

MemberI am in the same boat, I have had 2 months to study for FAR and have worked very hard/diligently, but I cannot seem to remember all the little nuances about every single topic. I get tripped up on these little details. I take my exam tomorrow, and I don't feel good about it at all. I took my first Simulated Exam and quit after the 1st testlet because I don't remember anything! Panic mode is beginning to set. At this point I am just hoping for a miracle. FAR = FML!!!!!!!

Participant@STR8: Your score on Audit is impressive! If you studied as hard for FAR, I am sure you will be fine! Just take a breath and don't stress too much…I swear I had test day amnesia and couldn't remember anything during the exam because I got myself too worked up…I somehow still managed to pass, so relax. You will do just fine and as I have said before, you don't have to be a master of every topic to pass…I certainly wasn't!

MemberIwannaBaCPA: Thanks for your words of encouragement, it's nice to hear it from someone who has gone through it – I worked just as hard for FAR as I did for Audit, and I think that is why I am panicking so much. I remember while doing the material I was understanding it wonderfully, but now that I am in my last day of review before my exam I am unable to remember the nuances and it's tripping me out. At this point I think I am going to focus on the topics I feel weakest about (Pensions, Income Taxes, EPS, and CF Statements).

ParticipantI think that is a fantastic idea! Just remember that they cannot test you on everything…there is only 90 Questions, several of which don't even count and 7 Sims, 1 of which doesn't count. You will do just fine tomorrow and I am sure you will pass so don't worry if a few questions trip you up…unless you are looking for another 92 (which is possible of course!). A pass is a pass…
Just manage your time well, it is much much more of a factor than it was for AUD.
Good luck!

Inactive@SRT8: first simulated exam, u mean the 100MCQs randomly selected test or the Final Exam Review exam, sounds to me u did the latter one. I tried that for REG, the final exam review exam is super Hard! Most questions will never be tested anyways, so yea. I would't be upset about that at all.
Well, just for the record, I did my first try on the 100 random questions exam on Becker, and scored only a 62! =(
Now im so worried, 62 is a BAD BAD mark, right? I am gonna try to redo some questions and take the exam again tomorrow, then my actual exam is on tuesday !!! errrrr..

InactiveI have FAR tomorrow, I'm really fretting because Business Consolidations/Leases are killing me but I'm going to focus on Statement of CF since I'm weak on that too and it's one of the most important sections. I haven't even bothered wasting time simulating exams or sims (this is because the sims I have seen this year aren't even close to the examples given by Wiley, Gleim or Becker, no point in studying them), I jump from using one section on the Wiley Test Bank and then Gleim to make sure I get questions from both angles. So far my Gleim %s are roughly 10-15% lower than the ones I get on Wiley except for a few odd exceptions. My Wiley Test Bank score average 70-80% for most sections except the sections mentioned.
I tried a few questions on CPA Review 4 Free, but they're horribly written and have errors because the algorithms they wrote to generate questions have inaccurate thresholds.

InactiveI know this doesn't help those of you who are testing in the very near future, but I would recommend the Yeager CRAM course (or the HomeStudy which is the full review) for FAR. I am a former Becker student, and felt like they used a memorization approach. For me, it was so hard to memorize all of that stuff and then try to apply it to the questions. With Yaeger, they have a teaching approach which helps you learn and understand the concepts and the reasoning behind why you do things a certain way. So when you take the exam you are logically thinking through the steps instead of trying to recall a nmenoic (sp?). I am not saying Becker is a bad course b/c it works for a lot of people, but it didn't work for me.

ParticipantI was literally going to make a similar thread today. I'm on Chap 6 of my second go around and I feel like Im not retaining anything. I've done pretty good on the other 3 sections, but I felt good going into those sections about a month out which is where I am right now. I feel completely hopeless and lost at the moment. Every time I sit down I get a throbbing headache within 30 minutes because the stuff either isnt making sense or I cant retain it.
The lectures are absolutely brutal too for FAR in Becker. The lecture for Pensions is over 2 hours long, and then there is only 19 questions in the HW????????
Everybody said REG was the hardest in 2011 so Im holding out a sliver of hope that FAR wont be too bad, but I am struggling bad so far

Participant@CPA_Rookie:
I am sure about 1 Sim being a pretest. The AICPA released a document on how the exam is scored and it indicates that 1 Sim is indeed a pretest. In the document, there is a chart that breaks each test down and shows that there are 15 pretest MCQ on FAR/AUD and 12 pretest MCQ on BEC/REG and 1 pretest Sim on every section.

Participant@hilaryh: every single exam is unique. The software has a testbank of 800+ questions and Sims that it generates an exam from. The odds of two tests even being really close to the same are very very slim!
