I don’t know about you guys but my college courses were not that great for this subject and I am just now learning a lot of this. I understand the VERY basics but am spinning my wheels with a lot fo the complex govt concepts… how well did you all know the govt/nfp portion and is it something that you had to spend a lot fo time studying?

    10/13/13 - FAR *PASSED* 76
    12/01/13 - AUD *PASSED* 84
    01/09/14 - BEC *PASSED* 84
    02/27/14 - REG *PASSED* 81

Govt/NFP accounting was crucial for my test at least.. I had a sim on NFP and had a bunch of MCQ's.

I had no prior knowledge of these topics. Do a lot of MCQ's and try to understand the flow between the journal entries.

I skipped those two chapters almost completely in Becker (got tired of studying). I had the other eight chapters on lock down though.

    FAR: 84 on 4/4/13
    AUD: 91 on 7/27/13
    BEC: 72 on 11/11/13, 82 on 01/03/14
    REG: 80 on 02/27/14

Gov/NP accounts for 16-24% of the exam. That's a significant portion, so I would try my best to master those chapters. I probably wouldn't have passed if I didn't.

Becker, Wiley Test Bank, and Ninja 10 Point Combo!

    FAR: 89
    REG: 87
    AUD: 92
    BEC: 75
    Ethics: 90

I'd say it is very important. I've been out of school 8 years, but work at an NPO and before this did Gov and NPO auditing so it wasn't totally foreign to me.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Do not skimp out on this section. I spent the most time on gov't/nfp — it was well worth it.

I “thought” I had gov/nfp under control for my exam…until I received a 72+score report stating that I was weaker in gov/nfp!!!! Make sure you practice those journal entries over and over until your hand falls off. I'm convinced that I didn't pass FAR because of weak knowledge in gov/nfp. Those topics are easy money if you put the work in!

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂

Wow, thanks for the input everyone! Given your advice, I think I'm going to focus more on these topics even more than I would have so I can really nail those points on the exam. With two more weeks to go, I'm certain that I have enough time to get these sections down pat and drill down on my other weak areas.

@calicpa, I'm so jealous that your school offered BOTH an IFRS vs. GAAP class and a gov't/NFP class! I would find that so helpful at this moment, haha.

    REG - 85
    AUD - 99
    FAR - 89 - w/ NINJA Audio and Blitz
    BEC - 91

Using Wiley - books and test bank - 6 months - all 4 first time
