Yeah SIMS are SIMS, but FAR has a large amount of material and tons of scenarios where each scenario has their own journal entries. I guess it is just memorization. Advice is appreciated, thank you.

Besides being able to apply the the same knowledge you know for MCQ you must know the journal entries. Which ones? All of them sadly.

I'd go through your exam book and write out all the journal entries and title them, and practice writing them out each time you do a MCQ that is related to a JE. There is a link going around here with “all” the journal entries but its very imcomplete.

If you write down all the JE a ton, and do MCQ til you drop, you will be ready and there's really no need to do all the sim problems available in the test banks.

    REG: 74, 78
    AUD: 86
    FAR: October?

Do as many practice SIMS as possible. While you are reviewing the answers note the techincal pts of journal entries and calculations then be able to explain the theory pts of concepts like bonds, leases, cash vs accrual. It wasnt until I did these two things. The important thing is you need the ability to reason a correct answer with limited or missing info. Multiple choice asks can you pick the best of 4 alternatives. Sims is really how much can you show you know whether yoj stsrt at the begin, middle, or end of a process

Thanks for the advice. I have heard mixed opinions about practicing all or none of the Ninja SIM bank. Yeah JE scares me since this is a FAR exclusive testing area. I can tell from Becker that there are a ton of JE scenarios so obviously one SIM bank isn't going to have every JE scenario for you to practice, and then I realized I was kind of stuck.

Yep already a difference of opinions. I guess since I have 10 days left I will just set my sights on MCQ, the book and JE and do a sprinkle of SIMS and the obligatory DRS and research questions. Apparently govt and not for profit surprises many people too.

The only way to conquer FAR sims is to just know the material. They could throw so much crap at you. One of my SIMS had like 6 tabs you had to go through. Then 2 or 3 had like 10-12 empty cells per SIM. They are a bear. I ran out of time, failed the research question and ended up with an 83.

Also the key to success is knowing Governmental and NFP like the back of your hand. If you are close, that is the make or break between passing and failing.

That sounds really wild, but good for you. Are you an actual pilot?

Cool. I never thought I would meet an accountant who is also a pilot. Anyways, back to FAR for me.

I never really focused on SIMs on any of the exams. I think I got more value from running multiple choice questions and thoroughly understanding why I got an answer wrong.
