Hey yall,

So I just got through all the FAR material once through. I am completely mentally drained. I basically have an entire month for review. I have becker as my review software and have been averaging 70-78% correct on the MCQs for each module. My question is how do you guys master all this info. I know that the exam is a mile wide and an inch deep but I’m just trying to be efficient with what remaining time I have left. I did poorly on some sections but I think the reason why was that I was getting mentally exhausted trying to get through all the material in 3 weeks. My strengths are in NFP, Gov acct, Derivitives, Foreign currency, and equity. I seem to have trouble with parts of of assets, liabilities, leases, etc. I’m thinking about cranking out MCQs, about 200 a day between now and sept 2. What are your thoughts?

I just passed FAR with a 78 using Becker.

How did I do it? I constantly did m/c questions, worked the simulations multiple times, THEN took the practice exams, went back to every section where I missed a problem in the practice exams, worked those sections' m/c questions and simulations all over again, and then the final two days before the exams I was reworking the practice exam questions.

Don't even try to memorize the GAAP vs IFRS differences verbatim, that is a complete waste of time. I know Becker tells you to memorize the 1,000,000 differences, ignore it. Obviously you should read and understand what they're saying, but don't get hung up on them with list trying to memorize them all, it's impossible. Also, don't pay attention to Becker's lectures, that is also a complete waste of time. Read the chapters ONCE, then begin doing questions and simulations. The only time you should go back to the textbook is if you have completely forgotten something and can't figure it out, then you go back and re-read the area. Otherwise, do questions nonstop until you've literally memorized the answers and have no questions left to work. That's what I did.

After my Becker mock exams, I wrote down in order from worst performance to best performance for each module (F1-F10) for both MCQ's and SIMS. I then went back and redid multiple choice questions in the 3 worst MC sections and 2 worst SIM sections one day, then the next 3 and next two etc. After that I did all the multiple choice questions in the Final Review. I did a lot more MC's than Sims. Also do the AICPA practice exam on their site, its like a baby mock exam. You got this!
