How to best study for IFRS?

On my study break… Everything I read in the forum seems to indicate that IFRS is increasingly tested in 2012 (great). I’m using Yaeger and it keeps the focus mainly on the major differences w/IFRS and GAAP…

Any additional suggestions on how to approach studying for IFRS?

Honestly, most of the standards are pretty similar to one another, so once you learn the GAAP standards, just focus on the differences. IFRS is not tested extremely in-depth, but you need to be comfortable with the differences.

    FAR - 84 PASSED

The ninja notes are fantastic for this, and my book (I use Roger) has a super handy chart too. I skipped over a lot of the IFRS stuff the first time around so as to not confuse myself. Now that I'm really getting IFRS I don't find it nearly as terrible and overwhelming as it did at first glance.

I agree with Sandra, the NINJA notes are great for IFRS. It is a great too and summarized the main concepts that you should know.

Wow I wish I could actually post something that makes sense; guess this CPA journey is making me delusional. My second sentence should be: “It is a great tool and summarizes the main concepts that you should know.”

Let me just put it this way – I have the NINJA notes for FAR and I would purchase the NINJA notes for the IFRS summary ALONE.

Also, I've taken the test twice in 2012 and in my experience, the exam focuses on IFRS theory. I felt prepared as far as IFRS for my FAR exams.

The advice to know GAAP and then know the differences is also very good. Best of luck!

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂

Just remember to not only know the differences, but know how to solve them using IFRS method.

I like the Becker summary of differences after each chapter. I've used those in making my flaschards for IFRS accounting differences.
