I am starting to study for a FAR retest. I took it in the last window and ended up with a 63, which was the 1st time I’ve taken it. I don’t know exactly how to approach the material this time. If you were me, would you redo all of the homework (Becker), take progress tests and see weaker areas, or start with some other means? I have found that the Becker lectures don’t work well for me. I can’t stay in place that long and the lectures from Becker are not portable.

I am also planning on adding Ninja – a 10 point combo. for this section or whatever other Ninja products you fine folks suggest.

Help me! How would you go about this? If it helps, my score review showed this —

    Framework and Standards — comparable

    Governmental — comparable

    Not-for-profit — comparable

    Financial statement accounts — weaker

    Specific transactions/events — weaker

    MCQ — weaker

    Sims — weaker

    Thank you for all advice!

Just had to post once I saw we have fellow powerlifters on here! Very cool, I'm not the only one!

@cmyers5 right on! So have you been into any meets yet?

@zubairs Several! Think my best total was 1383 raw @ 198. I'm 24 now – haven't competed for a couple years, but gearing up for another November 22. Maybe not the best idea right before FAR – but oh well!

@cmyers5 that's really impressive! as for your meet I would really suggest letting it go until you pass this exam. Something I should have done when I started this exam 🙁 well it's better late than never

@zubairs That has certainly crossed my mind, but I'm keeping my training sessions short, and if really need that Saturday to study – I can always back out of the meet. That is much more likely if REG comes back 75+ and FAR is the last one! Thanks!

@zubairs, no meets yet. I started training with a competitive powerlifting coach last summer. I did 2 cycles (about 6 months) of a program he wrote for me, and I started doing 5/3/1 in January this year. My squat 1RM is 270. Bench is 132. I have not tested my deadlift since December last year. At that time, it was 242 (sumo). I have switched to conventional and would estimate that my 1RM is in the neighborhood of 260.
