How many sections to buy at once

I plan to sit for FAR mid-to late July and then hopefully AUD end of August. My question is should I pay for all 4 sections at once, or just the first 2? My problem is I can’t study or test during tax season, so I basically have 2012 to test then take a break during tax season. I don’t want to pay for REG and BEC and feel obligated to take them in the 4th qtr if I don’t pass FAR or AUD and then my NTS will expire. I really want to get FAR out of the way. So, what do you guys think is the best strategy? Just pay for 2 at a time until they are passed, or take every section at least once before retaking failed sections?

    FAR - 81 (8/31/12)
    AUD - 93 (10/19/12)
    BEC - 79 (11/27/12)
    REG - 92 (2/8/13) DONE! All 1st attempt!

I would say do one at a time. I got a 74 on FAR the first time and decided to try it again ASAP without giving myself the approitate amount of time becuase I had all the other already paid.

Looking back I wish I gave myself more time to study and more time inbetween. You only get 6 months for NTS. I believe unless you have the full six monthes to study, with no work, social life on complete hold, and 100% motivation then you could do all at once. But for us humans its best to do one at a time.

    learn from my mistake!!!!!!!!!!!

I would say just pay for two at a time. It only takes a few days to receive an NTS from NASBA after your initial application has been approved. I think it would help give you some peace of mind and help pace yourself. You don't want to feel rushed or pressured as you're studying. Good luck!

After your initial application and first NTS goes through, the turnaround for subsequent NTS's is much shorter. So, if you fail FAR, continue to study for auditing and take it at the end of August and in that time pay for another FAR test. I think doing a rotation of two different tests is the best way to go when preparing for the exam. It gives you some breaks in between the same material but not long enough to forget everything. Once you pass one, say you pass FAR on the first try, then add one of the remaining two tests to your rotation.

    AUD-Failed (Waiting for Score)
    BEC-PASSED (First try)
    REG-Failed (Retake February 2013)
    FAR-Failed (Retake January 2013)

I'll agree that two is probably the best. I threw 3 tests in this window and – even though REG was a retake – I felt very much like a marathon. I wouldn't do it again – and hope I don't have to.

FAR Passed * AUD Passed * BEC Passed * REG - Round two on 5/30

Also, it's very important to keep the blackout months in mind. I learned this the hard way when I registered for all 4 sections around the middle of May 2011.
