I failed FAR this past window with a 69. I’m just going to drill MC questions over the next 6 weeks and retake it. I’m trying to do at least 100 questions a day. I’m just wondering how that number compares with everyone else.

    FAR - (05/30/2012 - 69) (July 2012 - Retake)
    REG - October 2012
    AUD - TBA
    BEC - TBA

truthfully, I was probably crazy when I started this adventure but I had no Idea what I was getting myself into. I decided to use Becker self study and got a miracle call from Lambers. I know…. sounds crazy that I would even consider anything else other than Becker but I wanted to make sure I passed all of my sections as soon as possible. So this is what happened, I got suckered into buying their “test prep software” (I am so glad I went with it). It seems to be a working method for me but who knows if it would work for anyone else. I follow this routine:

Becker- Go completely through it, After watching the videos do the homework. move on when you can get 60+% on the section you watched. (don't get discouraged by low scores. make sure you understand why the answers were either right or wrong)

After completing all Becker (I didn't focus on simulations as much) , don't skip supplemental questions, I make sure I have a whole 1.5-2 full weeks of review time before the exam. Once I am in review mode, ALL I DO IS MC's from the Lambers Test prep soft. it literally comes out to 320-350 questions a day. It would take me a whole thread to explain how the software works so in simple terms, it first has you take a prelim exam that will determine your weakness. then you take mini quiz's which are geared to give you a repetition of old questions you have taken before while adding new ones. ie: you take a 60 question quiz, that quiz will include 40 repeated questions that include much of your weakness while giving you 20 new ones. the next quiz is the same, giving you a set of 40 that you are familiar with (cool thing is, it changes the order of the answers so that you don't necessarily have a chance of memorizing, by location anyway.) When you look at your progress, it gives you the amount of questions that you have covered and the ones that you still have to go through. It seems to take for ever as the software has ,say…1,000 total questions for a section but you don't go through all of the questions by doing 1,000 during your mini quiz's(since many get repeated). basically, you do the full 1,000 q's 2-3 times maybe even more.

I would like to note that studying is my life for now, at least until I start public accounting in sept. (I know its much harder with a full time job and family so my schedule definitely has it drawbacks for these individuals)

Lastly, three days before my exam and after all the puke from MC's I take the becker final exam (memorize what you got wrong and right), two days before the exam I take the other final exam. day before the exam, just relax as there is nothing that you could do more to prepare.

SORRY FOR SUCH LONG POST. I HOPE IT HELPS SOMEONE…..

if you need to contact lambers, let me know. (jdiazdeleon19@gmail.com) The lady I spoke to is very nice. I first ordered AUD and FAR since I was a bit skeptical, but after seeing the results, I have just yesterday, ordered REG and BEC….

    good luck!

I worked through all the Becker MC, but I just want to stress something. The quantity of practice questions you perform is less important than your methodology for working them. I know people who work hundreds of MC questions each day and failed the exam multiple times. The trick is after you've worked through the problems, analyze what your weak areas are. And do those questions again and again until you are comfortable with them. People often give themselves false comfort by working tons of questions in areas they have already mastered, but remember that anything is fair game on the exam.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

    I DID IT!!!!

Concentrate on quality over quantity! Usually, for FAR, I would do no more than 50 questions per day…depending on the topic. For the Govt and NFP topics, I could plow through more questions because those were my favorite topics (I am a sick puppy, I know)….but for topics like pensions, bonds and leases I was lucky if I completed over 20 questions in one day lol.

    Class of 2012

I recently completed my undergraduate degree and have signed up for the all four Becker live study sessions, beginning with Financial on the 10th of July. My materials should be arriving by the end of this week and I was wondering if I should do anything in preparation for the course prior to it actually starting? Would it be in my best interest to start reading over the material and doing the MC prior to taking beginning the class?

I have FAR schedule July 9 and I started MCQs today. I completed around 55 in 3.5hrs. I am in the “nonstop MCQs” part of the NINJA framework. Does anyone know if 2.5 weeks is okay for MCQs at this rate? And for those using the Wiley test bank; what topic to start on MCQs or do u select all topics?

I was using Becker prior to switching study material since it was just not my learning style. I would say it depends on you. Reading over the material prior to class would probably help you understand what the professor is talking about. I tried it for Aud but it was time consuming so I tried to pay attention in class as much as possible. Since my class was on Saturday, I was usually bored half way throught the class. I rather watch the lectures and highlight exactly what they show you on the book.
