So I’m working full-time at a CPA firm and I have my last exam (REG) scheduled for 4/17/12. I will be averaging 70-75 hrs/wk of work through the end of February, 60-65 hrs in March, and 50 hrs in April. I have taken 6 days (including 2 days for weekend) off before my exam. Does anyone have any study suggestions?

I took FAR which I studied 5 weeks (100 hrs)/ AUD 1.5 weeks (50 hrs)/ BEC 1 week (45 hrs) and passed them on my first try. Does 3 weeks (65 hrs) enough time for REG using Becker?

    Thanks!

too work for an assurance firm, and know this time of the year leaves little time to study, so for REG, more than any other exam, you can out smart the examiners. So, as one who did exactly this, and who passed easily with only 2 weeks of studying (only 2 tax classes in college, 1 Blaw class) I offer you this:

    Study only Taxation!

    Know this:

(Becker) R1,R2,R3 and R4 makes up actually 88% of the entire content on the REG exam. – 80% of the MC and all 40% of the Simulations

(Becker) R5,R6,R7 makes up only 12% of the entire content on the REG exam. – 20% of the MC and none of the simulatioins.

Blaw chapters are just going to cause you unnessary stress and worry. So during the exam, any time you get a MC question related to Blawjust guess (C) everytime, this will also leave you a a ton more to focus on tax MC and the Sims. I did this and got a 89. My performance report was as follows:

    Ethics & Legal Responsibilities (15-19%) – Comparable

    Business Law (17-21%) – Weaker

Federal Tax Process (11-15%) – Stronger

Taxation on Property Transactions(12-16%) – Stronger

Taxation on Individuals (13-19%) – Stronger

Taxation on Entities (18-24%) – Stronger

    Multiple Choice (60%) – Stronger

    Simulations (40%) – Stronger

have you had any work experience with tax? I found that having some work experience helped out. I could focus all my time on business law, and I ended up pleased with my score. For the record, i studied probably 110 hours for REG. That 110 was probably “too much” studying, but it was the first part i took, and i didnt know what to expect.

i'll be honest, i wouldnt want to study 10 hours, let alone 70 hours, during busy season. just looking at your scores you have posted, you have until like feb. 2013 until your credit expires. why put yourself through all that pain of studying during busy season? why not wait until april, study good for a few months, pass, then make it rain.
