How long should I study for FAR – First attempt 74

I received my FAR score on Monday and received a 74. Passed the rest first try. I paid my state fee today and should receive my NTS by Friday.

I studied FAR for the entire month of June and took it July 3rd. I did some F1 today in Becker and my trending is about a 65%. Luckily I’m allowed to study while I work but with 10/15 coming up, studying 5+ hours a day will go down to 2 probably. If that doesn’t happen then I’ll continue to study as much as I can. Personally I’d rather wait to take FAR late November/ early December and some what master the material than rush and get somewhere in the 60’s. I don’t mind the 2 month commitment.

Question: Should I take FAR early November or late December/first week of January? I’m not the type of person to “push” off studying, however my biggest fear is not remembering the first 3 chapters of Becker.

That is why you must review or else you'll forget everything from the earlier chapters. I spent roughly 1 month doing nothing except review on my retake because everything was pretty much fresh in my head.

So slow and steady wins the race?

In a sense, yes, slow and steady wins the race. However, you don't want to spend too much time on studying for a section because then you experience burnout, and you begin forgetting things anyway. Jeff recommends no more than 8 weeks, including review, for any given section. I'd say maybe 9 or 10 weeks for FAR though, since it has more content.

First time I took FAR was during busy season so I didnt put the time in (maybe 5 weeks of cramming?), but the second time I spent 8-10 weeks studying, the final two weeks just straight review and hitting my weak areas. NINJA notes saved me as I read them every day on the train for 45 mins

I say push it off and take your time with the material. There is a lot of material in FAR. And review, review, review as you go.
